"please tell me that Jabbar is not being charged with any crime. "I don't know. That's why I was asking. The reports I heard said the prosecutors in LA wanted to. They claimed he stole the bus for one thing.

His defense argument...some of his neighbors found Nikes and plasma screen TVs 'useful' for their evacuation plans...whats wrong then w/taking a bus? Jabbar was evacuating from a disenfranchised neighborhood no doubt.
Maybe they want to charge him, because he makes soooo many others look bad by their own lack of inaction.

Well, they got actual video of the NOPD stealing stuff from a high and dry Wal-Mart. Are they going to prosecuted?
At least this young man has the guts enough to save lives and I do believe the bus in probably the only one left that is still in working condition.
Should be put in the Smithsonian, IMHO!

They claimed he stole the bus for one thing.Inasmuch as there are NOPD cruisers likewise in Houston, driven there by NOPD officers who did NOT return and assist in the emergency, I think any prosecutor alleging "theft" has a serious sanity problem to address. This is not to say that one or more might try to cause that young man grief, but I suspect any such attempt would not only be extremely stupid, but downright hazardous to the prosecutor who attempted it...
