There is a shot where Blanco is being set up several days ago for a TV interview, and her press secretary is helping her adjust her mic. Theyre having a personal conversation, but the cameraman catches it!! In it, she kinda jokes to her press secretary something like yeah, well I guess I really need to ask for troops, and a couple more things she says. A bit later in hte segment she gets into a semi-argument with Miles OBrien, and hes pointedly asking her exactly WHEN she asked the President for troops. She gets frustrated and says she didnt even know what

"I really need(ed) to call for the military. I should've asked for that in the first call."
Or something along that line.

The media is portraying all the dem screwups as loveable weakness exhibited by the victims of the tragedy. OTOH, the feds are depicted as a an all powerful juggernaut that could have solved everything, if Bush were just competent or compassionate enough.
This is an old liberal trick. They personalize their creeps and dehumanize the opposition. Like when they had half the country worrying about poor Bill Clinton's marital problems.

I've thought for some time now that her main effort has been a$$-covering and blame-mongering.
It's apparent that she's no better at that than she is dealing with a hurricane.

There is a strict protocol for asking and getting federal military assistance. I live in Ohio and bringing in troops is something that left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. For that reason, and others I am sure, the fed will not/does not sent troops willy-nilly. A formal request is needed. The gov. of LA is a regular half-wit, but she is the half-wit THEY elected.

Blanco for president. If you want less government she will surly be effective in rendering government useless.

The GOP better save that video for the next Louisianna election. We might be able to get the Governor and both senate seats.
Looks like things haven't changed since Earl and Huey Long.

What happened to her "checklist of to do items in a disaster" that should have been premade in her highly paid private consulting disaster "plan"? Certainly the proper procedures to follow in a disaster should have been spelled out to her...maybe time to sue her consulting firm and not rehire them? Or was that just another boondogle?

This person couldn't administer a landfill, much less a state.
Talk about incompetence. "Well I think it may have been Wednesday when I asked for troops."

Rush just played the audio clip of her (between interviews) talking to her press secretary admitting that she should have called in the troops sooner. "Didn't want to put good people in harms way..."
Liberalism is a mental disease.
Antimilitary types will not look out for the defense of people in this country.

Rush played the audio of her "off air" comments on his radio program. I couldnt understand it well cuz I'm at work & have to have the radio volume down and she was "whispering."
Maybe check his site?

What has to happen for us to repeal posse comitose? It's just a 19th century law like spitting on the sidewalk and cleaning up after your horse. We ignore those all the time. Why is this one such a big deal?
