Bush works to find footing
Poll: Most disapprove of Bush's handling of Hurricane Katrina
From John Mercurio
CNN
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Facing a new round of polls showing mixed reviews of his handling of Hurricane Katrina, President Bush rolled up his sleeves and toured the most storm-wrecked parts of the Gulf Coast region Monday.
...
While a new CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released on Monday shows that Bush's overall job approval rating is 46 percent, other polls taken over the past week show his support is lower. A poll of recent polling shows that Bush's average job-approval rating is 42 percent. (Full story)
A new Newsweek poll shows that only 38 percent of Americans approve of the way Bush is doing his job overall, a record low for this president, and 55 percent disapprove of his overall job performance.
But there are some signs in the CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll that Bush may have turned a corner.
A majority of respondents give a poor rating to Bush's "initial" response to the hurricane, but 58 percent have a positive view of Bush's actions "in the past few days."

They STILL don't get it...and never will.

It is very kind of CNN to remind us even though Bush is rebounding in their poll he is faltering in other polls.

The President is not trying to regain his footing.
The Preident doesn't look at the world like that, and will the MSM ever accept that?

Poll: Most disapprove of Bush's handling of Hurricane KatrinaIn this context, "Most" would tend to translate to "80-90%" to the average reader.
I highly doubt that.

Polls mean nothing really. I can make a poll give you any answer you want, simply by how I ask questions, what question I ask, and who I ask them to.
Any result. You name it. Polls mean little to nothing -- what counts is WHAT GET DONE and PROMISES THAT DON'T GET DONE. That is all that counts.

Don't you just love it, my first thought as well. Potential positive news for Bush has to be tempered with some other bad information. Are they trying to say, don't trust our polls since other show different information?
What idiots!!!

OK, I'm sick of this.
Where are the polls asking about Blanco and Nagin's response?

Yes, that is strange. CNN/USA/Gallop had a poll last week which CNN ignored while it eagerly hyped the more negative NBC and AP polls.
President Bush can be frustrating for us as he doesn't seem to fight back, but he did rise above the pettiness so maybe the American people will give him credit.
As for the polls, the media really loves to poll and use it to beat Bush. To counter this, I suggest every conservative speaker start spreading the word that Republicans and conservatives are lying to the pollsters because they're mad, sorta of like what happened to the exit polls.
This means if they want to play the poll game they'll have to spend alot of their time explaining that their sample has enough Republicans.
I'd enjoy that.
