The Poles have always been good warriors. I remember a documentary about the Battle of Monte Cassino in WWII, and that the Polish soldiers were given an extremely nasty section to attack. They did so bravely, despite taking horrendous casualties.

If only the Allies had done the same for Poland in WWII...
