Press Conference with President Bush and PM Talabani Live on Fox News

Posted on 09/13/2005 8:47:12 AM PDT by Chickenhawk Warmonger

I hope that we can get a transcript of Talabani's remarks. He repeated over and over "Thank you President Bush" with tears in his eyes. Gave me chills and made me so proud!

Yeah...and while he did say he takes full responsibility, he also had a list of qualifiers that included a lack of communication between state and local levels. These people are so pathetic in their attempts to bury this guy.

Talabani should have said that the President's response to the human hurricane, Saddam Hussein, and his swatch of death and destruction was superb.

Then we should inundate CNN with emails...if you think it's even worth the effort.

No, the only thing the Libs will hear is a negative question on Katrina. This press conference was FANTASTIC!

Sadly you are correct: CNN Headline: Bush: 'I take responsibility'

Well, that is what the President said, at least when talking about failures on the federal level.

What failures? The failures were on the state/local level as we've seen time and time again in numerous threads. What the heck is Bush talking about? Did he take responsibility for Blanco/Nagin's failures?

The video of the press conference is available on Fox News website. Here's a direct quote from Pres. Talabani - he was looking right at President Bush and his eyes actually looked teary...
"We salute you, we are grateful to you, we will never forget what you have done for our people."

THAT should be the headline. I didn't watch all of the stupid questions from the lamestream media so I don't know what the Pres. said about Katrina. The whole point of this presser was Iraq - but of course since the President was being thanked by 15million liberated people, the media could not possibly air it.

Did he take responsibility for Blanco/Nagin's failures?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!

He took credit for what went right and wrong. He mentioned how many lives were saved by the Coast Guard, they are FEDERAL first responders and saved over 30,000 people, he gets credit for that right?

I just sent a scathing email to CNN via their feedback form. I know it is a wasted effort, but it made me feel better. PLEASE blast your contacts with the incredible statements from this press conference. We cannot let this opportunity pass by!

PRESIDENT TALIBANI: Thank you. Thank you, Mr. President, for your kind remarks. It is honor for me to stand here today as a representative of free Iraq. It is an honor to present the world's youngest democracy.

In the name of Iraqi people, I say to you, Mr. President, and to the glorious American people, thank you, thank you. Thank you, because you liberated us from the worst kind of dictatorship. Our people suffered too much from this worst kind of dictatorship. The -- (inaudible)

-- was hundred thousand of Iraqi innocent children and women, young and old men. Thank you, and thanks to the United States, there are now 15 million Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq liberated by your courageous leadership and decision to liberate us, Mr. President.

We agree with Mr. President Bush that democracy is the solution to the problems of the Middle East. Mr. President, you are a visionary, great statesman. We salute you. We are grateful to you. We will never forget what you have done for our people.

Q Mr. President, given what happened with Katrina, shouldn't Americans be concerned if their government isn't prepared to respond to another disaster or even a terrorist attack?

PRESIDENT BUSH: Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government. And to the extent that the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility. I want to know what went right and what went wrong. I want to know how to better cooperate with state and local government,

This is WHAT he said - not taken out of context.
