The marine guards guarding the barracks in Beirut had the same order - the result - over 200 dead marines in an islamic suicide attack. Lesson Learned - when you deploy solders, either you trust them to be armed or don't deploy them...

Reminds me of Kerry voting to use force in Iraq and later saying "I thought we were just going to threaten him." Don't draw a firearm unless you're prepared to use it.

You are correct. The Marines in Lebanon were unarmed.
Didn't want to upset the natives, you know.
The officers on the bridge of the USS Cole had no ammunition in their weapons either.
Pathetic.
