TEHRAN, Sept 15 (Reuters) - Iran is ready to share its nuclear technology with other Islamic countries, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying on Thursday.
"The Islamic Republic never seeks weapons of mass destruction and with respect to the needs of Islamic countries, we are ready to transfer nuclear know-how to these countries," the official IRNA news agency quoted Ahmadinejad as saying.
Washington accuses Iran of secretly building atomic weapons and the comments are likely to heighten Western concerns about Iran's nuclear programme. They were made during a meeting with Turkey's Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, IRNA said.
Seeking to avert referral of its nuclear case to the U.N. Security Council, which could impose sanctions on Tehran, Iran is engaged in intense lobbying for support from non-aligned countries at the U.N. summit.
Washington and its allies say Iran has failed to provide full and timely information about its nuclear programme and are alarmed that Tehran last month broke U.N. seals at a uranium processing facility.
Iran insists it has every right as a signatory of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to develop a full atomic programme to generate electricity.
"We have firmly decided to use this technology for peaceful purposes within the framework of the NPT, international regulations and cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency," IRNA quoted Ahmadinejad as saying.
Ping.
Time to dust off the neutron bombs....
Mullahs spread WMD!
What if Iran just put on the Internet for all to see... "How to Build an Atomic Bomb" with all the modern improvements. There'd be chaos like all get out. All the good guys who want one already have it, so it would only help the bad guys.
OPINION: Probably a very dumb move on their part...
I guess this is how they show their so-called teeth to the civilized world
The clock is ticking...or is that a bomb?
Mike
And the Euroweasels at the UN should will to give up their soveriegnty if Iran comes back to the table.
The nuclear genie is "out of the bottle" and it's going to get worse. This technology can now be freely passed around ... kind of like Napster for Nukes.
If they do develop a viable nuke weapon, it will only be used for defense.
The Jews wont convert to Islam! It is an attack on Islam! We must defend ourselves and nuke Israel!
The Italians wont convert to Islam! It is an attack on Islam! We must defend ourselves and nuke Italy!
The ______ wont convert to Islam! It is an attack on Islam! We must defend ourselves and nuke _____!
Religion of peace my arse BUMP!!
We made it thru the 60s convinced that the USSR would start the end-of-the-world attack - and just when I thought it was safe to go into the water . . . . .
Can't we just build a huge dome and let the rest of the world blow themselves to smithereens? I guess that wouldn't work.
I can see practice for nuclear attacks while I am living in the nursing home some day - can't wait.
And BTW where are all the pictures in the MSM of the 'civilized' Palestinians completely destroying the blooming desert that was given to them as a gift (at a very high price to the rest of us)? The world should be watching images of those animals instead of dwelling on the Pres's bathroom break note.
What a crazy world this is becoming -
I agree Bush is a big wussy. We should've sent Iran a "message" awhile ago!!!
If this is how they show their teeth-their favoyite food had better be, mashed potatoes, mush and pureed crow.
Either we are not sure where all The Stuff is (yet), in order to make a clean kill, or the time is not right to strike.
Or - worst possibility of all - the bunkers are hardened enough that we cannot destroy them with conventional weapons. Even a goat-raping raghead can learn from what the Israelis did to Iraq and take precautions against it...
If that happens, it'll be time to show the islamic world what imperialism really means.
And therefore bring the Islamic nations one step closer to total annihilation.
Reminds me of a joke I heard a few years back:
Q: Why are there no Arabs on Star Trek?
A: Because Star Trek is set in the future!
OK - Where are the inspectors? Will they have unfettered access to all the nuclear establishments in Iran? I doubt it.....
