There has to be more to the story. It's kind of wierd everyone knows the value of the items are $63.50 but no one knows what the items were. Were they food or other items? More info is needed.

From what I read on another thread...the Deaconess had a Hotel room where she was taking care of her ill husband, and she had parked her car near this Deli. In her car was a cooler with food, and she was getting the food to take back to the Hotel to grill some sausages for her husband.

The Deli was being looted nearby while she was at her car, and the cops didn't/couldn't catch any of the perps, so they busted a 73 year old crippled Granny who couldn't do the crime because of her condition, nor could she run from the JBT's.

Now, I dunno about it all...but in this case...I'll believe the Deaconess over them proven idiots in the NOPD!

Dear Itzlzha,

Yeah, that's more of the story. I read one story where the family shows that to get into the store, as it had already been ransacked, required climbing through broken windows and over counter-tops, and such. The woman in question is diabetic, and isn't in very good conditions at 73 years old. It was quite unlikely that she could have picked and climbed her way through the store.

The police, apparently, couldn't make a common sense judgment that this particular woman was an unlikely looter, and were unwilling, apparently, to hear or see any evidence to the contrary that she was looting.

The case really highlights the complete corruption of the New Orleans Police Department, justice system, and overall government.

Sickening.

So would I. In this case, I don't have a problem. Deli meat is not going to last anyway. How totally ridiculous. Even when I thought it was impossible, I get less and less impressed with Nagin. That's understatement.

After my experiences over the years with Louisiana LEO's, I think I would believe the Deaconess and the eyewitnesses and the Deli owner as well.

That and that little bit about having a cooler of food in her car - considering her condition, somehow I think it would be easier for her to get in her car, and get food out of the cooler, than smashing Deli windows and climbing through them.
