"On Thursday night President Bush spoke to the nation from my city. I am not a Republican. I did not vote for George W. Bush -- in fact, I worked pretty hard against him in 2000 and 2004. But on Thursday night, after watching him speak from the heart, I could not have been prouder of the president and the plan he outlined to empower those who lost everything and to rebuild the Gulf Coast."

This is a Clinton move if I ever saw one.
Yes, Texas has been wonderful.
I see your point .. but in this case .. I think she may be sincere
Time will tell
Actually Bob Beckel did support the President's plan the next day on one of the morning shows.
We are talking about 200 BILLION plus dollars, according to the President: "Whatever it takes, for as long as it takes."
Frankly this is a roadmap for disaster; rebuilding an entire city from the ground up that perpetually sits up to 25 plus feet BELOW sea level which is nearly completely covered in feet of toxic bio-hazardous material and mud!
This is the height of stupidity and folly; if I told my local bank that I wanted to go 25 feet out into the Atlantic Ocean, pile up a ring of sand and build a $350,000 house in the middle, they would laugh me to scorn and give me the "bum's rush". Well, good Freepers, we are not talking about a single house, we are talking about an entire city that not only sits below sea level bordered on either side by a massive lake and an ocean with the Mississippi River flowing through it, and you and I get to pay for it. Why? Because of screaming minorities and the race baiters pulling their strings and the Presidents wanting to prop up his poor poll ratings.
Oh but this will be "good for the Republican Party," this will be "good for conservatives"... Dream on, the only thing that is going to happen is that a massive transfer of wealth will take place (out of your pocket) and end up in the hands of the corrupt people who have been in control of N. O. and the Gulf Coast for as long as can be remembered. Will it result in more votes for conservatives or Republicans? No, why, because no matter how much you give the screaming, entitled minority masses; it will NEVER be enough!
How can you say such a thing? Because to date we have squandered 6.5 TRILLION DOLLARS on them and the "war on poverty" and what do we have to show for it? N O T H I N G but the bills which we, our children and our children's children will be paying for all of their lives.
Nonsense, see post 65. The entitlement croud will always vote Democrate because they habitually keep them on the government dole at our expense.
There's always a chance she's sincere. But, she is also the one who made the allegation that police unleashed dogs on black people in Florida during the 2000 election to keep them from voting.
It'll take some time before I believe she's sincere.
There is one thing we can give, because the majority of us on this website are on the right side of history. We can give the benefit of the doubt, as Ronald Reagan said "trust but verify".
She was on a talk show last week complaining how hard it was trying to find her displaced sister section 8 housing.
Selfish bitch won't even take in her own sister, would let her live in a slum and will use her plight to score political points. She is not to be trusted. None of them are.Politics first, last, and only.
Give the man a cupie doll.
Nah. She's just the designated shill to run cover for the out-of-line, overstepping democrats.
Pardon me, but I smell the usual Democrat barnyard aroma. When they act like they're making nice, look out.
Unless you're a hell of a bodybuilder, you couldn't throw her very far ... let alone lift her!
That is a stake through the heart of the Democrat philosophy right there. We are poised for a great influx of people who will be surprised to discover that not only are we not the devil, but they actually agree with us more than the dems.
She's probably part and parcel of the corrupt Dem. political structure in Louisiana.
Reminds me of Dan Rathers' comment after 9/11 in which he said (paraphrasing) after Bush's speech to Congress, "I'll follow wherever this President leads." That sentiment lasted about three days.
A shiver went up my spine. A dyed in the wool socialist commie endorsing GW is a scary thing.
I need to take a shower.
Maybe she doesn't name-call on television. But don't forget, Brazile's the one who said "We're not going to let those white boys win."
(The "white boys" to whom she was referring were George Bush and Dick Cheney. She didn't explain how they were any whiter than AlGore and Joe Lieberman. But I digress.)
That said, I think Brazile might have a few decent bones in her body. She criticized the 'Rats for their obsession with abortion.
She told a story about how her elderly father in Louisiana asked her one day, "How come all the Democrats stand for is killing babies?" or words to that effect.
