Memo to the mullahs: better lay in a large supply of Sharia-approved body bags.

Might be a great place to retest tactical nukes if it comes to that. I think Iran would hot hesitate to use one if it has one.....the only downside would be that it might incite the whole Mid East Arab population. But if the future holds a major conflict with us, then it might be better to settle it now.

The best thing that could happen is if Iran attacks us before they get the bomb. We're certainly not going to pre-empt them. But if they attack us, we'll have no choice but to take it to them.

Smallpox don't leave big holes in the ground, though.

> ... purge of the military ...

So what characterizes those purged, and their replacements?
The article doesn't say.

If this is a purge of legacy military for reasons of
religious zealotry, and replacement by religiously-correct
beard-brains in uniform, then it suggests a further
degrading of Iran's former military capabilities, rather
than preparations for a successful war.

The article also suggests that Iran is expecting direct
attacks on the nuke sites. My advocacy would be to
merely take down the power grids that run those sites.
This can be done with almost no collateral damage. We
can keep them down as long as necessary, and even expand
the outages to further instruct the mullahs.

We're Doomed!!!!

Just kidding.

Read through the story. All the key parts have the US doing the atacking except for the terrorists and the Iranian SF. The terrorists are attacking now. The Iranian SF, bit better trained terrorists. The 250,000 man army in the desert? Multiple targets for precission munitions.

My take on the story? PZZZZPPUT.

" Iran is estimated to have 250,000 troops in the area, its biggest military build-up since the end of the Iran-Iraq war in 1988.

The problem with that, is you gotta feed them while you wait, and wait, and wait, and wait...

In the past few weeks top regime figures, including Khamenehi and Ahmadinejad, have made a series of unscheduled visits to Mash’had, Iran’s second largest city. One curious fact revealed during these visits is that a bunker-like structure to house the “supreme guide” is being completed close to the “holy shrine” of Reza, the eighth imam. The complex could also house the top echelon of government, including the president, the Cabinet and members of the Islamic Majlis (Parliament).

The choice of Mash’had is not accidental. The city is located 1,000 km from Tehran and thus as far as possible inside Iran from American fire power in Iraq and the Gulf. The US is also expected to shrink from attacks against the Mash’had bunker for fear of collateral damage to the “holy shrine” of the imam a few hundred yards away.

I think we can reach out and touch somebody there. They might be right about the mosk thing though. In fact, that's a given. We are too afraid of Media opinion to hit good hard targets like mosk bunkers.

Striped of fantasy, their plan is

double dare us
when we do something, bleed on us and scream a lot
hope leftists here dislike our enemies bleeding and screaming
attack our friends, who then bleed and scream
hope rightists here don't care about our friends bleeding and screaming

So clever. But actually, the left doesn't give a darn whether they bleed or scream. It just wants power. Any excuse for any charge will suffice. The weather, for instance. Great whopping lies, for instance. So who needs Iranian nutjobs?

You are correct, but a massive blast wave will clear the area so we can insert large oil sucking straws in the sand. Small pox would create a need to dig many smaller holes for the refuse.

Oh no! Oh no! Not the raging volcanic eruption of rage from the Arab street again...

The last 19 predicted eruptions were little more than barely noticle farts.

It is time to change the United States playbook. Fly over Iran, scramble the important targets with the best weapons available, and let the Iranians clean up the mess with their talent and at their expense.

If they continue or resume unacceptable behavior, do it again. At some point the penalty with exceed their reward, and the behaviors will cease.

Smallpox don't leave big holes in the ground, though.

Neither do neutron bombs - - they don't leave a lingering bio-hazard, they kill everything (including biological agents, but do leave infrastructure intact...

Have I missed something in the U.S. papers or TV news?
I've read several accounts in foreign news sources of Condi and/or Pres. Bush and/or Blair walking out when Ahmadinejad spoke at the U.N.

That's not news? Has anyone here reported this?

Although shunned by U.S. officials, he met with the American press, with Mr. Putin, with Mr. Annan and European officials, and with leaders from Turkey, Nigeria and Kuwait, among other countries.
