This one doesn't seem to be too worrisome for us.

Never, never, never say that. Look what happened in NOLA, Mississippi and Alabama. Never allow yourself to be lulled into thinking it is safe. I live in Colorado and I worry about everyone in the hurricane areas. They can loop around and over and under. We used to live in Panama City Florida (military) and we were issued hurricane maps and it was incredible to see the paths they took and how they twisted and turned and went out and came back. They are too unpredictable so don't mess with Mother Nature. Your life and that of your family is worth more than any material thing. I know you know that but...just hate to see people get complacent. All hurricanes should be worriesome. :) Stay safe!!!

Don't count on anything outside 24 hours. Katrina was predicted to go east of Panama City at first. Ivan was forecast all over Florida. The whole Gulf should take notice.

The key is the heat in the gulf. Heat is the fuel for the engine of a hurricane. If it is still hitting the high 90s to 100+ in the gulf, any storm can explode. With this storm tracking into the center of the gulf, it will have 3-4 days to build up steam. Be careful.

We have a Fish Camp on the coast of MS, and we used to spend every summer there. Every year, when I was growing up, my Daddy got a HUGH hurricane tracking map. He would follow every storm, and by the end of the season, it was wild to see the lines going every which way.
