Impeach Kathleen Blanco

Impeach Kathleen Blanco

This is a sad time for all of us who live in Louisiana. While I'm personally thankful for the efforts of thousands of people from across America who have helped us in our state's greatest time of need, I'm enraged by the lack of responsibility displayed over the last few weeks by many of the officials we elected.

Kathleen Blanco, the Governor of Louisiana is completely responsible for our state's lack of preparedness and for mishandling the rescue and relief operations in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Governor Blanco's incompetence and disregard for the citizens of Louisiana before the hurricane struck and her inexplicable actions in the days afterward can only be considered dereliction of duty. Louisiana needs a new Governor, and I hope you'll join me in demanding a Recall Election. . . .

Queen Blanco & Her Loyal Supplicants

by Christopher Tidmore

posted by March 26, 2004

http://www.politicsla.com/columns/Tidmore/2004/March/032604_queen_blanco.htm

If a Governor in another state ordered the Speaker of the State House of Representatives to remove a member of his caucus from the Chairmanship of a powerful committee, the Speaker would ask if he or she was kidding.

(snip)

State Representative Troy Hebert (D-Jeanerette) lost his position this week, (March 26, 2004), as head of the state House Insurance Committee because he would not vote for Kathleen Blanco's renewal of the 2.8% sales taxes of business utilities. Forget that the tax disproportionately hurts industry in Hebert's district and that it is widely unpopular with his constituents. Forget that Hebert ran against it, and was on record as opposing the tax when he became Insurance Chairman. Forget that Hebert was a loyal supporter of Blanco's election to the Governorship and has supported her other initiatives. Forget that the so-called tax swap was a very bad deal from a tax cut standpoint for any self-professed fiscal conservative. (See this week's Inside Political Track)

Blanco's Bid

From San Antonio to Ruston to New Orleans and beyond, Gov. Kathleen Blanco is selling the state of Louisiana. Is anybody buying?

"I would concentrate all of my efforts in having Mary Landrieu impeached instead. With her out of the way, LA can begin to rebuild again. The Landrieu family is to LA what the Kennedy Family is to MA."

I don't know what charges you could bring against a senator in this case.

Let me just point out that Florida was belted with 4 hurricanes last year, in less than two months. Both GW and Jeb got accolades for their handling of the situation, and both won re-election as a result.

Of course, I don't remember Jeb refusing to allow GW to federalize the Guard. Maybe that partially explains why Blanco did not do as well.

The legislature can't remove her from federal office. Only the US Senate could remove her.

You are absolutely right. I misspoke. What I should have said is "Recall" , not impeach.

"I would concentrate all of my efforts in having Mary Landrieu impeached instead. With her out of the way, LA can begin to rebuild again. . . ."

Landrieu is not responsible for the virtual blockade that the State of Louisiana imposed on New Orleans following Katrina, which is in my opinion the single worst instance of the defamation and segregation of a racial minority population in recent American history. Not that the mainstream media would ever report it, but the details are there. Blanco's immediate dispatch of state troopers and an early contingent of 2000 Louisiana National Guard troops to New Orleans after Katrina did not do anything to keep or restore order in the city. They were all used to enforce a blockade while everyone waited on the federal government which, when coupled with the refusal of her administration to permit the Red Cross and Salvation Army to go to New Orleans with relief supplies, marks her handling of the post-storm situation as something just short of a crime against humanity.

We'll get Mary Landrieu in 2008. The demographic shift among Louisiana voters that will follow the "Katrina Migration" will work against her. She carried Orleans Parish by over 70,000 votes in 2002 while her statewide margin of victory was about 40,000+. She's toast!

All Mary Landrieu has to do is a Dick "Turban" Durbin ... shed a few tears and "apologize" ... and our Senate will not only keep her in office but probably appoint her as chair of a Hurricane Disaster Prevention and Recovery task force.

That is the best news I have heard yet. Landrieu is as much of a disgrace to the US Senate as..... well most any other Democrat I can think of.

This is a ping to a list of Louisiana Freepers provided by Salvation -- et merci beaucoup pour ton aide Salvation -- to encourage all of you to do three things:

1. Go to ImpeachBlanco.org and request a copy of the recall petition for yourselves.

2. Ping any other La. Freepers not included in the full ping list I'll repost here:

Hold on now, handy dude. Do you realize what you are implying? That the voters in Louisiana are as stupid as those in Illinois? Somehow, that just doesn't seem possible. I have not been to Louisiana yet. I have been to Illinois (and Chicago). The folks in Chicago think that the Cubs have not won a World Series because of a curse which involves a goat. I don't know what is worse; believing that story or voting 70% Democratic in every election. Also take note of the fact that Chicago, Illinois is the home of Jesse Jackson, where he learned to imitate Al Capone.

Please realize if we impeach Blanco, Mitch Landreau (Mary's Brother) will be the replacement Governor.

This is my concern as well.....
