Twenty-five vulnerabilities were disclosed for Mozilla browsers, including Firefox, in the first half of the year, compared with 13 for Explorer, Symantec said. Eighteen of the Mozilla flaws were classified as high severity, compared with eight high-severity Explorer flaws

I don't use it(Firefox) for security. I just it for functionality. Tabbed Browsing. IE doesn't have that.

It is difficult to fairly compare the rates of reported vulnerabilities between Internet Explorer and Firefox, because they have dramatically different organizations behind them. One is Open Source, the other proprietary. There is likely much more aggressive and rapid reporting of vulnerabilities on the Open Source side.
