He wants to kill me, says defiant Sliwa
NY Daily News ^ | September 21, 2005 | CURTIS SLIWA

Posted on 09/21/2005 6:18:40 AM PDT by Irontank

Guardian angels founder Curtis Sliwa couldn't believe his eyes: The Mafia boss who - according to a key witness - ordered him killed 13 years ago managed to escape conviction. Here, the outspoken radio host tells Daily News reporter Adam Nichols that he now fears John A. (Junior) Gotti wants the botched job finished:

Now he wants me dead.

I am a dead man walking. John Gotti Jr. will rejoin his family, and I know there are Gotti cohorts who have taken a solemn vow to do what they failed to do before: end my life.

They're going to celebrate [Junior Gotti's] freedom tonight and they're going to celebrate what they hope will be my eventual passing.

I can't imagine Gotti Jr. is talking like Mahatma Gandhi. This is now a vendetta, a blood feud. This is personal for him, and I can just imagine the hate he's spewing. He wants me to know he can reach out and hurt me.

They will stop at nothing to make sure that I become an example of what happens to someone who challenges their authority. I have known many people who challenged it before who are no longer here.

Whether it's a street tough or a Gambino family hanger-on, I expect somebody to have a go at killing me. [The Gambino crime family will] say if you succeed, more power to you. Make our wish come true.

There's a whole new generation of guys who want to earn the respect of John Gotti Jr., and if they can somehow report that Curtis Sliwa is 6 feet under, they know that will make their boss very happy. . . . I fear for my safety every day. . . .

I have learned from previous attacks. I do not want to be predictable; I do not want to let anything like that happen again.

But one thing I know for sure: John Gotti Jr. will still be able to see me like George Washington on the dollar bill, my red beret on my head. It will be like I'm surrounded by neon, because these colors do not run.

I'll be in his face every chance I get. I will be out walking up and down the San Gennaro festival. I will be talking about him on my radio show. I will not go away. I will take every opportunity I get to tell him he can't run and he can't hide.

He's the luckiest guy in the world to walk out of prison, and he knows it. That doesn't make me angry; it happens. But the feds have told me they have a resolve to get him; they're coming after him with a passion now.

He might think he beat the system now but, I guarantee you, soon he'll be sweating.

I have waited 13 years to see justice; I can certainly wait a little longer. He can party out at his mansion now, but there will come the day when we will lock eyes again.

The U.S. government has assured me that it is going after Round Two on the very same charges. I intend to be around for that trial.

To those who are not in the NY metro area and don't get to hear conservative Curtis Sliwa's radio program that he does every morning with liberal civil rights lawyer Ron Kuby...you are missing out...Sliwa has to be one of the most interesting characters on the radio.

He often fills in for Sean Hannity, so the rest of us get to hear him on occasion. I wish him and his family well and pray for their safety.

Some of my interest in this situation rests, to a degree, on whether or not Ron Kuby is ALSO at risk!

First off, Sliwa is entertaining and has the gift of gab but he is hard to listen to for more than 5 min at a time. Second Kuby is a lying leftist piece O Kr@p and I wish people wouldn't listen to his show. A constant known liar shouldn't have a microphone.

Kuby was Curtis's best man at his wedding. They are good friends and to be honest I think Kuby has been interceding for him with the Gotti's.

I love Curtis, too! We can listen to WABC programming live on the Internet:

That is Sliwa's DEFENSE MECHANISM AT WORK. Shouting this statement on radio where millions of people can hear it PRACTICALLY GUARANTEES that Gotti won't even think of touching Sliwa ( unless of course he is suicidal like Muhammad Atta). If Sliwa dies suddenly, guess who the first suspect will be ?

I think they should have changed the venue for this trial. I don't think a jury in Houston would have acquitted.

I switched over to Michael Smerconish

Smerconish is such a such a wuss, he reminds me of a male Susan Bray if you remember her. Talks about tv shows, movies, cats and dogs, etc. Try Bill Bennett and Laura Ingraham on 990 AM in Philly.

It's a smart move on his part then, if it protects him. Would you want Gotti after you?

If Sliwa gets offed, who is going to mess with Gotti? Gotti won't do it himself so he has nothing to worry about.

What's with Beck lately? He doesn't seem to want to talk about anything other than sex anymore. It's like he trying to be a conservative Howard Stern.

Gotti now has a personal stake in ensuring that Sliwa DOES NOT get offed. The FBI and NYPD detectives are watching him and have been since Giullani became chief prosecutor.

Even if somebody else does it, Gotti will be suspect number one ( i.e. people will always believe he HIRED the killer). Self-preservation ensures that he'll leave Sliwa alone and go after less prominent people he does not like. All he can do now is tolerate Sliwa's big mouth.

Kuby may be considered a p*tzigliere so he may get a pass, due to idiocy.

If I knew a man like Gotti wanted me dead, and the government had already done it's usual job of accomplishing nothing, I'd kill him first.
