Anti-Mafia Law Used to Fight Illegal Immigrants
Fox News ^ | 21 September 2005

Officials in Canyon County, Idaho, say that illegal immigrants are costing their county millions of dollars in medical and welfare benefits — millions of dollars the county wants back from agricultural companies, officials say, that knowingly employed undocumented workers.

In an unprecedented move, Canyon County is suing several local businesses under the Federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act.

"It's an organized, orchestrated invasion, economic invasion of the United States," said Canyon County commissioner Robert Vasquez. “They're costing the county money in medical indigency welfare cases, and also in crime and other statistical data that we've compiled"

The RICO Act was originally designed to target organized crime, and it has been used a number of times to accuse companies of conspiring to lower wages by hiring illegal immigrants. But the lawsuit filed by Canyon County in U.S. District Court in Boise takes the conspiracy theory to a whole new level.

Outstanding.

Hope Vasquez and the county's attornies prevail, and go on to collect every penny they've ever paid out to subsidize private employers' hiring practices.

"The RICO Act was originally designed to target organized crime"

The practice of employing illegal immigrants regularly is organized crime.

I hope these businesses get slammed for putting their bottom line above the national security of the United States and the welfare of her citizens.

Why don't they dismantle their welfare programs instead of suing businesses? These people are idiots.

Federal Mandates come to mind.

If the businesses would stop violating the law, they wouldn't have to worry about getting sued, now would they?

They should be suing the organizations that encourage, participate, and try to empower the illegal activity. It's those proxy coyotes that need to be nailed, because it is an organized conspiracy to commit federal crime.

First post since '98. Live in Central KY county of 25,000 legals and an additional 10,000 illegals. Walmart hires illegals and works them on 3rd shift so they will be less noticed. Local meatpacking plant was raided and over 60 illegals taken, raided again and over 30 of the same illegals arrested again 2 weeks later. These folks will work and that is needed as the young kids in this area won't.

There is a way to get "kids" to work in your area..its called "Good Parenting". Many of todays youngsters are simply spoiled brats..if daddy and mommy would refuse them cell-phone, car, mall money they would WORK.

Illegal aliens should not be an excuse for bad parenting or for lazy welfare-case citizens to sit on their butts!

"Walmart hires illegals and works them on 3rd shift so they will be less noticed."

Walmart's lack of respect for the laws of this country, as well as for the good of this country (their relationship with China, for one thing) are well documented.

"Local meatpacking plant was raided and over 60 illegals taken, raided again and over 30 of the same illegals arrested again 2 weeks later."

If they'd stop releasing these illegals back into the country, they wouldn't have to keep arresting the same ones. Deport them to their country of origin and secure our borders to solve this problem.

"These folks will work"

And they'll break any law they have to so they can work. They'll violate our sovereignty to get into this country. They'll drive cars without licenses. They'll drive with no insurance. They'll run into cars, causing property damage and injury, then leave the scene. After all, why stay at the scene? If you stay, you'll almost certainly be arrested for driving without a license. You may even be deported once your immigration status (or lack thereof) comes to light. If you run, you just might get away. Every time that happens (and it happens all the time), insurance costs more for the rest of us. They'll also use fake Social Security numbers, which is essentially identity fraud, when seeking work. Illegal immigrants have zero respect for the laws of this country. Their very presence, in violation of our laws, proves that. They're here as willing slaves; ready to take slaves' wages and live in filth working for companies who don't give a damn about much of anything. They don't have a chance getting a job with a good corporate citizen; it takes a real scum company to hire them in the first place - usually far below minimum wage.

Remember that when you defend illegals and the companies that hire them, you're defending those who break the laws of this country on a regular and casual basis, and who have no respect for this country.

"that is needed as the young kids in this area won't."

If companies in your area are unable to find legal workers in a given area, they have several (legal) options. They can relocate to an area with a sufficiently motivated workforce to carry on their operations. They can offer incentives for those willing to relocate to their current location. They can offer incentives to those lazy young folks in the area who aren't taking the jobs offered (things like, I dunno, higher pay?). None of those things involve breaking the law.

Personally, I can't defend the path that involves violating the law and risking national security while enslaving people who simply don't seem to know any better.

It is never too late to give good, sound advise to children.

And...

Whether a person is 18, or 30, they will soon find a means of supporting themselves when daddy and mommy either Kick Them Out or charge children living at home rent, food, support (in a realistic $ amount).

If daddy and mommy give you a dime..you are a CHILD. (devastating, uncontrolled circumstance excluded, of course!)

"Why don't they dismantle their welfare programs instead of suing"

All welfare should be eliminated for everyone and the owners of the businesses hiring illegals belong in prison!

Any business that needs illegals or even L-1 visas to make ends meet is getting an indirect govrenment subsidy, and does not deserve to be in business.
