ROME, Sept. 21 - Homosexuals, even those who are celibate, will be barred from becoming Roman Catholic priests, a church official said Wednesday, under stricter rules soon to be released on one of the most sensitive issues facing the church.
The official, said the question was not "if it will be published, but when," referring to the new ruling about homosexuality in Catholic seminaries, a topic that has stirred much recent rumor and worry in the church. The official, who has authoritative knowledge of the new rules, spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the church's policy of not commenting on unpublished reports.
He said that while Pope Benedict XVI had not yet signed the document, it would probably be released in the next six weeks.
In addition to the new document, which will apply to the church worldwide, Vatican investigators have been instructed to visit each of the 229 seminaries in the United States.

Homosexual Agenda Ping.
Absolutely last pingothenight. Another article - from the NYSlimes - about no more homosexuals in the seminiaries. Don't know if there are more details than in other articles, but in the interest of completeness, here it is.
So investigators are going to go to all the seminaries. Let's hope that the investigators are all okay themselves, and have their wits about them! Good going, guys.
Freemail me AND DirtyHarryY2K if you want on/off this pinglist.
LOL!
liberals still control the seminaries..homosexuals just have to lie to get in and libs will cover for them..this is all about trying to bring down the catholic church..these libs don't care about kids, souls or anything but bringing the church into the lib point of view..why do you think fems want to be priests???so,they can tell catholics its o.k to kill babies, especially minority ones...
If I said it once I've said it a thousand times.
The liberal idea that allowed gays in seminary was this:
"If they are attracted to men or women it doesn't matter because they are celibate"
In liberal theory it sounds good, but the simple fact is that gays have higher rates of mental health problems and are different in every imaginable way from 'straight' priests.
It would make more sense, and be a more positive step to eliminate child-molesting, to require individuals entering the priesthood to be neutered.
Boy, this'll get their panties in a wad, so to speak...
The sensible thing to do would be to stop barring heterosexuals.
LOL. Last I heard, though, first-world straight males weren't exactly beating down the doors to the seminaries.
Many gays come from highly dysfunctional families. Once upon a time, a man who wanted to be considered for the seminary had to come from an intact family - divorce was not okay, nor was a situation of family problems such as alcoholism, domestic violence, etc. Back in those days, of course, the pastor actually knew his parishioners, and had to write a letter of recommendation (or not) for the candidate in question.
Also, a lot of boys went into minor seminary when they were fairly young, a system that had both good and bad points. I think the bad point was mainly that sort of nicey-nice but not very smart boys got moved onto the fast track and ended up as the current crop of weak - not necessarily immoral, but clearly at sea - bishops.
PLUS: if a seminarian is attracted to men, how is he going to remain celibate if he lives with men?!
I'd like to see some statistics on this. Not saying you're wrong, but, since you made the statement, I suspect you've got the data to back it up.
