"The terrorists saw our response to the hostage crisis in Iran, the bombings in the Marine barracks in Lebanon, the first World Trade Center attack, the killing of American soldiers in Somalia, the destruction of two U.S. embassies in Africa and the attack on the USS Cole," Bush noted, after getting an update on the war on terror at the Pentagon.

"The terrorists concluded that we lacked the courage and character to defend ourselves and so they attacked us," the president added, in quotes picked up by United Press International.

"I love Bush again..."

Me too. He's finally decided to stop making friends with a rattlesnake.

It's about time he started hitting back. The only thing is I wish he would have added the dates to those various terrorist attacks. i.e. The first World Trade bombing in 1993...etc.

"The terrorists concluded that we lacked the courage and character to defend ourselves and so they attacked us,"

The same could be said of the Bush-bashers, Mr. President. Start hitting back.

It's definitely more love than hate, but I've got to say, when he says f-it and makes a statement like this one I tend to forget the few things he's done that disappoint.

I agree - more love, but I find myself irrate at Bush sometimes, because I EXPECT better of him. This is a prime example - leting Clinton take pot shots. Thankfully he did not let it go unanswered this time.

Let's hope this is a sign of things to come. We might see a few more honest statements like this after he gets his 2nd nominee through, we start an Iraq pullout and the '06 elections are done?

Exactly. Sometimes he has to take the "high-road" because he's the president. But when, like Carter, Clinton breaks the unwritten rule and criticizes a sitting president, Bush has got to set the record straight or risk letting Clinton rewrite history with the help of the MSM...
