I'll have to check my posts about that too.
The group involved in the VVAW gunrunning operation was United Cairo Front (UCF), which was based in Cairo, Illinois (at the very southern tip of Illinois) and was linked to a St. Louis gang called the Black Liberators. When I researched UCF I was unable to verify any direct links to Jackson. The closest thing I found to a possible indirect connection was a business partnership dating from at least 2004 but possibly with earlier origins between UCF leader Charles Koen and Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) leader James Bevel, involving a Chicago bank that was accused by its customers of organized crime ties and fraudulent activity in 2004. Bevel had worked in 1966 with the same Chicago gang Jackson's half-brother Noah Robinson was in, the Blackstone Rangers (aka El Rukns, Black P. Stones, etc.). In September 1970 Bevel participated in a joint march (arranged by Al Hubbard) uniting participants in a Black Panther national conference in Philadelphia with participants in the VVAW's Operation RAW rally in Valley Forge. I don't know when Bevel first met Koen, so I can't verify this constituted a link between the VVAW's gunrunning operation and Jackson during the Vietnam era, but that's the closet I found to a possible link. UCF was a surveillance target of the FBI's COINTELPRO program, so there may be more information in FBI files on UCF or related subjects; likewise there may be information in FBI files pertaining to Bevel.
