CNN ^

Posted on 09/24/2005 4:05:30 PM PDT by indianrightwinger

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Crowds opposed to the war in Iraq surged past the White House on Saturday, shouting "Peace now" in the largest anti-war protest in the nation's capital since the U.S. invasion.

The rally stretched through the day and into the night, a marathon of music, speechmaking and dissent on the National Mall.

Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey, noting that organizers had hoped to draw 100,000 people, said, "I think they probably hit that."

Speakers from the stage attacked President Bush's policies head on, but he was not at the White House to hear it. He spent the day in Colorado and Texas, monitoring hurricane recovery.

If they got 100,000, they were about 150,000 shy of the number of people who voted for Bush in San Diego county..

LOL, sure, if you took the ones who showed up and multiplied by 10.

Along that line I always remind leftwing loonies that the Ku Klux Klan used to have more marchers than that show up in DC.

I am glad they are able to get it out of their system. After, they can return to from wherever it is that they came from and continue to raise their children properly, live productive, fruitful lives and contribute to our society.... that is if they don't get killed by an islamic terrorist at some place and time somewhere in the world....

There was a huge one today in Santa Barbara, where I live. You'd think someone in the crowd would realize the election is over.

Hehehehehe....

I was thinking if Ramsey was working part time as a spokesperson for the rally and forgot his Police Chief duties.

Or, it may just be that he wants to show off how orderly their rally enforcement was.

Why didn't these people donate the money they spent to stage this rally to the people in the Gulf States??

They could have made a bigger statement by donating the money to this worthy cause from the War Haters...and did something productive for a change.

Oh wait...that would take Brains...and a Heart!

Children will play.

I am happy safe at home currently in thought supporting the nation and our President. Getting ready to go outside work on the home and increase the value of my property.

Children will play.

Good thing the adults are in charge of the nation again.

Chief Ramsey once offered a take on the number of ralliers and was sued by the lefties for deliberately trying to harm them by underestimating the crowd..since that day he offers no reading of rally sizes.

They figured out from what point the cops and media were doing the couting, and then, from the front of the march, as they neared the end of the march route, one group after another they'd turn into the side streets and make a circle back around to the beginning of the march.

I saw the same people 3-4 times.

About 1/2 way through, all the signs started repeating. It was the strangest thing./s

I think Chief Ramsey has been hitting the sauce today. I saw tape of the rally on NBC tonight and the crowd looked very sparse. Unless there were 90K people hiding in the bushes I don't believe there were anywhere near 100K there today.
