Yeah, and we all know that. What they do or "make of it"
shouldn't stop us.

You're quite right. But one of the most hopeful political trends in recent years is the fact that the Right (or rather, some small but significant portion of it) is now demonstrating and engaging in often-creative political tactics. It does my heart good, and I guarantee you that many other people feel the same way.

What matters isn't so much the amount of right-wing demonstrating, or the size of the events. What matters is the direction of the trend ... if we're making progress on this score, and sustaining it, I'm satisfied.

These rallies seem to be held on the east coast. There are more colleges/universities/leftists/ in the blue states.

Conservatives don't have the kind of backers who will put out the money to rent buses and probably rent people. Also, they won't do it.

There are no conservative money-men like George Soros.

The leftists who show up at these rallies with their own special interests have no other way to be heard. They are so extreme not even the MSM will take them seriously.

Conservatives tend to show up in great numbers on the Internet and talk radio --- arenas where you can make yourself heard without having to travel, find baby-sitters, take days off work from serious jobs.

The extreme left nutcases DO NOT support their talk radio hosts, aparrently.

Hannity and Beck's rallies drew thousands, but note that they took place in the heartland, in generasl.

The rally at Crawford was vvery impressive, remember.

So which side do you want to win this war? Which side are you supporting and why do you want your side to win the war? Remember, in a war there are only two sides. The side you fight and support and the side you are against. Tell us your view.

Good for your friends!

May God bless and console them on the loss of their son.

May God make Cindy Sheehan's tongue cleave to the roof of her mouth forever!

My memory isn't rich enough to argue the point, if it's put in macro-political terms. I'm not saying that more frequent FReeps and larger FReeps will reverse public opinion on the war. But I do think what we're doing may have prevented support for the war, and for Bush, let alone the country's morale, from slipping even further. That may not be gratifying, but it's better than the alternative.

In addition, there is "synergy." For example: A man sees us demonstrating in a liberal community, and realizes -- hey, there are conservatives in this town. Next time, he comes up and introduces himself. Or he's emboldened to write a letter to the editor, or volunteer for a conservative cause, or send money to a local candidate.
A lady talks to a neighbor who was at a FReep. She signs up for FReep and is thereby encouraged and informed. A college student sees a great sign at a rally and uses the slogan with his friends. Someone else is prompted to look into the history of American wars and all the good they have done. And so on, and on, and on.

Doing nothing is almost always wrong. Doing something almost always produces a result, however small and unknown.
And once you get into the habit, it just feels good, doesn't it?

There's a reason why we are the "silent majority." Conservatives just don't really get that passionate about politics. Our lives don't depend on it. Liberals see politics as the "be all end all" since they truly believe that the government is responsible for their lives.

"Kind of new, aren't you?"

Why in God's name is this such a common insult on FReep?
Shouldn't we welcome new people? What kind of grassroots campaign would Bush have had last year if new volunteers were faced with this insult when they walked into our headquarters?

Politics is "a game of addition," my friend. At times, that can be uncomfortable. At times, we do legitimately wonder whether someone is friend or foe, or worth the trouble.

However, doubts should be resolved in favor of friendliness, not hostility.

Just so you all know, Hundreds are not the same as Thousands.

It is if you use the million man math by Farrahkan.

There were around 2,000 code pinko types with a
march and rally here in San Diego yesterday.
15 conservatives countered it. Out of around
100 freepers here only 2 showed up CAluvdubya and myself.
the remainder were Protest Warriors.

1st I would like to share a blog entry I just read, it is here:

http://fuzzilicious.blogspot.com/2005/09/anti-war-and-war.html

Then I want to say THANK you for everyone who worked so hard for the cause.

Lastly, I want to say, somehow, we all MUST DO BETTER, or we will loose this thing. For my son's sake and all the troops out there, please do something more. Please get better organized, maybe get the GOP or some group to help. But do something before it is too late.

Please.

I find it ludricous how the media is claiming that the support-the-troops rally was smaller than expected, when for months, the anti-war faction has been claiming their rally was going to be the biggest protest since the Vietnam war. They didn't get close to the low figure of 250,000...and even the exaggerated media claim of 100,000 is pitiful when you consider how long they've been advertising this thing...with help from their media brethren at Camp Casey.

I understand that argument, but conservatives aren't in politics in order to get something from government (usually). It's to keep government from getting crazy, and too powerful. Very different, but it should be an equally strong motivator. Our lives may not depend on politics, but eventually, everyone's life will be ruined if things keep going as they have been in the U.S. And they will if more of us don't get "that passionate about politics."
