The Democratic primary will be between Doug Duncan, Chief Executive of Montgomery County (a wealthy county) and Verrry generous to poor residents, including those who have lost their documents, and the boy Mayor of Baltimore, a very poor city where every problem of poor leadership has been blamed on the closed checkbook of the mean Republican Ehrlich admin.
The dynamics should be quite interesting. The only thing these two men bring to their debates will be who can promise the most goodies to Marylanders.
Since Md politics has been dominated by Dems for years, until Ehrlich's win, a September primary date was no problem. Now, however, that date means that Duncan and O'Malley have to trash each other all summer, instead of a winner fighting Ehrlich.
So - following the parliamentary rules of the state of New Jersey, [if a law does not work for a democrat - change it] the Md legislature wants to change the law to move the primary date back to the beginning of summer.
Should be interesting to watch.
