"Evan Bayh of Indiana"

I find that interesting"

Yeah, I liked him better before he got presidential aspirations.

I'll go way out on a limb here and predict the two from my state Murray and Cantwell will vote against. If forced to give reasons we'll hear about womens reproductive rights. Theres a very small chance Cantwell might surprise me, but their votes are pretty predictable.

Bush's only legacy will be who he gets on the SCOUS. The end, that's it.

The democratic constitution is fully in place and functional in Afghanistan, so at least that would be another legacy. It's too soon to say about Iraq (I'm on tenterhooks about next month's constitutional referendum there).

"I think Bush needs a fight to help improve his approval numbers and stoke up the base for 2006, which isn't looking so hot right now (and yes, I know it is early)"

You're going under the premis that he cares. I hope he doesn't care. He's doing what he thinks is right; making a few blunders along the way - it happens, but his approval ratings were at the voting booth and they would be again. These polls don't matter!

The lasting legacy, people don't care a hill of beans about Iraq, Afghanistan and so forth, when the next administration comes up, it will be challenged with terrorism as we are now but this country has a problem remembering.

What about the war on terror?

Nothing about the expansion of freedom and democracy in the Middle East?

OK troops, here is the full list of RATs who need to be removed from office next time they run. Make the Roberts vote, and all that it implies, the reason these morons do not deserve to be in the Senate. If any of these people are running in the 2006 election in your state, organize now to remove them from office. Make Hitlery #1!

AGAINST ROBERTS: Daniel Akaka of Hawaii, Daniel Inouye of Hawaii, Carl Levin of Michigan, Patty Murray of Washington, Jack Reed of Rhode Island, Paul Sarbanes of Maryland and Ron Wyden of Oregon.

Your list is a tad optimistic (or perhaps naive, after all these ARE Democrats we're talking about.)
I'll eat my hat if Tom Harkin votes for Roberts for sure.
The only thing "red state" Harkin has ever deferred to was the Soviet Union.

I know, I love Bush, but the immediate wins will be the court. The Middle East is on going and will be a decided way down the road, no guarantees, they don't want peace over there they only want dead Jews.

If Cantwell votes for Roberts, I am going to be surprised.

But, it may be a sign she is worried about her upcoming race due to residual irritation surrounding the Gubernatorial campaign. That would be a very good sign.

According to what I just saw today on cspan2's coverage of the Senate, there are NO Republicans who are going to vote against Roberts.

Also, the list of Democrats that cspan2 showed that will vote for Roberts has grown to 17:

Bingaman(NM), Byrd(WV), Baucas(MT), Conrad(ND), Dodd(CT), Dorgan(ND), Feingold(WI), Johnson(SD), Kohl(WI), Landrieu(LA), Leahy(VT), Levin(MI), Lieberman(CT), Nelson(FL), Nelson(NE), Pryor(AR), Salazar(CO)
