"This is all so disgraceful and especially for women who REALLY ARE beaten by drunken husbands. This man has no shame."

Wasn't Maher recently accused of abuse by some girlfriend?

A palimony suit was filed against Maher, 48, Nov. 11th 2004 by Nancy "Coco" Johnsen, a model and flight attendant. However, recently a Los Angeles judge dismissed the case. The woman claims Maher shook her at a party and failed to make good on his promises to marry her and buy her a home in Beverly Hills. He also subjected her to verbal abuse, including "insulting, humiliating and degrading racial comments," and he threatened her with a hammer.

Maher convinced Johnsen to quit her 12 year flight attentant career and in return he promised to marry her. He wanted her to have his children. Maher would also reimburse her for clothing and other expenses necessary for her to accompany him at public occasions as a "power couple." He promised that he would support her for the rest of her life. He also promised to buy her the house in Beverly Hills where Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez once lived or give her money to buy a similar house.
