I'm about to have to utilize my old-fashioned health insurance due to an incipient heart attack--did NEJM just approve of a conservative goal?

The idea of ownership of healthcare is a nice one, but it will never be realizable as long as the government and the AMA have a monopoly over who is "qualified" to dispense with healthcare.

It doesn't require 4+ years of med school to set simple bone fractures, or stitch a wound up, or give a shot of penicillin.

As long as the medical elite has the government enforcing their privileged and lucrative status, we the patients and consumers will be forever screwed in the medical arena.
