someone suggested yesterday that if the vote were secret, Roberts would get something closer to a 96-3 vote. The issue is that the democratic base is so rabidly anti Bush that it is required to oppose him on everything, even if what he recommends would be a positive to Dem voters.

I see a pattern. Blue State D voting no and red State D voting yes.

Remarkable how many "yes" votes are up for re-election in '06.

Probably just a coincidence.

Missing both CT senators.

I suspect Lieberman is a yes (because he's part of the gang of 14 and he needs to show sincerity)

I suspect Dodd is a no (because he's a Kennedy-esque toe-the-liberal-line partisan hack)

They are coming up later today (CT Senators). Roberts may get more than 80 votes.

No, probably around 72-75 votes. He won't cross 80 under any circumstance.

Except for Bayh (IN). His "no" is proof pudding he's going to try to run for Pres in 2008. ;)

If you take out Chicago, IL is a fairly red state. It is so sad to see that those of us who do not live up there are represented by such scum. I've written letters to both of my senators, but have not gotten a response back from either one.

Same with New York State. They should take out the People's Republic on NYC and NYS is a red state.

Looks like Bill Nelson gets two votes. No wonder Frist is having such a hard time :-)
