I bet this reaches all the way up to Blanco.

And to Rep William Jefferson? And to the other William Jefferson . . .?

I wonder if the same person is on their rolls under more than one name.

That's some smart wondering, I bet. Could be a crooked group of guys with multiple identities. Paycheck funnels.

Probably it's widespread. I've seen Serpico :)

But it would be less disturbing and more hilarious if it's just two or three guys taking home the pay of hundreds.

".. This will split Louisiana politics wide open."

That is way over due! They hide down there in the Parishes and nobody pays attention until something like Katrina draws attention.

It would seem, to be elected to office in LA, one must be up to their eyeballs in payoffs and graft.

Not to defend these questionable minions, but one of the deserters appeared on Louisville, KY TV last night saying she could not go on as a cop. There wasn't any one there to take care of THEM.

You know...with the way everything was handled down there, is this really surprising? NO Mayor Nagin is one arrogant guy and I can see why the dums in this country want to keep anyone from investigating or blaming the mayor or the governor for the problems that existed before and after the hurricane!

They went right into their offensive mode, didn't they. And the msm did their bidding.

Hmmmm...donor lists, and while we are at it let's take a look at some other payrolls in LA government. I'm willing to bet that the NOPD aren't the only ones in the disaster preparedness food chain with dirty little secrets.

I'm beginning to think Nagin bought a house in Texas to escape jurisdiction, not the hurricane.

700 times an average salary of $35,000 = $24,500,000

Sure does gives new meaning to "The 700 Club".

There were quite a few cases I view as legitimate including police who could not find family members. But they are muddied by those who had no or less valid reasons for skipping out.

I wonder if Nagin's house in Dallas is close to DFW, and does he have a Ford Bronco?

I guess that's why, right after Katrina, he was "sending them" to Las Vegas and Atlanta for R&R. He needed on-the-books-only-cops to evaporate.

I wonder what happened to the spending money the R&R'd cops were given.

A white Ford Bronco?

In a perfect world, when he does make a run for it the engine will be flooded.
