I bet taxes weren't paid on the stolen money, which makes it a federal case, not just state.

Nagin can't escape federal juristiction in Texas.

Maybe Compass is going to take the fall for all of them. Give the prosecutors a wile to work on him & see what shakes out.

I think it is significant that Nagin didn't distance himself from Compass (yet, Nagin makes some pretty wild swings)so I think that they are not pointing fingers at each other for now.

I wager that Nagin didn't "know" about this, in the sense that the corruption is mature enough that it is compartmentalized. Don't forget that a lot of the records involved are going to be missing because of the flood.

This might be trickier than it looks to unravel, unless those involved continue the past habit of not being able to shut up when a camera is rolling.
