Fed retirees are NOT paid "full salary" try less than 50% of the top three yrs of pay. Go to the web and read information about the fed retirment programs if you don't believe me.

Federal employment numbers have not changed significantly in 20 or 30 years. The payroll is barely significant in the overall budget.
But don't let that stop you from slandering your neighbor.

All I know is that a CPA friend of mine was shaking his head re the income taxes he does for retired Fed gov't employees and one couple in particular filed on their gov't pensions and the total income reported was 98% of what they had reported prior to their retirement. Their other investments (tax free bonds) weren't included. No, he did not disclose confidential information, he just gave generalities as an example of his amazement at the retirement benefits he saw first hand. I do know that my friends who retired enjoyed no less than six full weeks of vacation, at full pay, for many, many years during their Fed gov't 'careers'.

I'm not talking about the payroll costs - I'm talking about the gigantic budgets they squander, the harm they do taxpayers, the liberties they steal and the welfare mentality they promulgate. Screw 'em.

He's a waddling doofus, without a lick of common sense or even good taste, who spent his life wasting your money. Screw him, too.

Unlike many State and municipal retirement systems, Federal employees even under the old, and more generous, Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) cannot make much more than 50% of their high three years of salary. Either your CPA friend is telling you a story or the retired couple likes paying taxes by grossly over-reporting their income.

Yes, He was probably in his late 70's at the time. My guess is he continued the scam as long as he could schuffel into "work". The problem is the they become tenured much like a college professor and can't be forced out. He simply feel through the cracks and I think at first he thought it was funny and was going to just coast for a while and the longer it went he was unable to tell anyone.
