Brain disconnects during deep sleep, UW study says

As we slip into deep sleep, higher regions of our brains take a vacation from each other, disconnecting so much that consciousness is snuffed out and a once highly integrated organ becomes separated, according to a groundbreaking experiment by University of Wisconsin-Madison researchers.

That's OK: it is their only innocuous activity. That way at least till noon you are free from their evil and malice. Thus it is to be encouraged and promoted. If one could drive all of them into permanent lethargy - why, imagine the great progress we would be making then!

This might explain why we utter gibberish and other funny things when we wake up suddenly. Maybe the brain takes a few moments to "reconnect" everything?

Whenever I eat a sardine and horseradish sandwich my brain disconnects from my body, and I don't need to go to sleep for the disconnection to take place.

Can I get my taxpayer grant now?
