Yes it is, and it can be dangerous if you don't stay on top of it. Thats why I'm looking at the outside burner, the mess and the danger is 30 or more feet away from the house. Seen too many chimney fires in my time.
That's why I call in a chimney sweep every September to clean out the chimney and the creosol.
