I'm a libertarian but the jury in my head is still out on this issue. Both sides raise very good points. I hate the idea of being able to go to Walgreens and buying couple of joints ... but I hate the idea of drug dealers getting rich, too.

It would be more correct to say you lean libertarian or some other wording.

People who are actual libertarians maintain that human bings own themselves. They are not owned by the state or others. They assert their rights. That includes the right to do things that may be harmful to themselves.

Public caning for dealers. After a few of those, they won't deal any more.

Plus here's my other idea: anyone who is determined to smoke it can grow it. BUT ONLY FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL USE. Any selling, which includes "giving" it away, entails punishment of public caning.

Believe me, in two years the problem will be solved. Public pain and public shame will motivate drug dealers to find another line of work.

And if after several punishments they insist, execution. I'm not kidding. But if people can grow their own (if they're determined to get stupid) why would anyone buy it?
