QAIM, Iraq (AP) -- About 1,000 U.S. troops, backed by attack helicopters, swarmed into a tiny Iraqi village near the Syrian border Saturday in an offensive aimed at rooting out fighters from al-Qaida in Iraq, the country's most feared militant group, the military said.
The assault, the latest in a series of major operations this year by U.S. forces in the heartland of the Sunni-led insurgency, targeted the village of Sadah, which the military said was a base for al-Qaida militants and foreign fighters entering from Syria.

It's time to quit play laos/cambodia with Syria and the WOT.
Hit the enemies wherever they are. It's that simple.

Nahh, and so it continues. This is just another operation that has been going on out there for the last two years. As we do not have enough troops we will attack and then leave.

Poster is a Marine. Who also was in Al Qaim. You all need to go do some homework and see how often this has been done. If it makes you butt hurt because it doesn't gibe with want you want to hear, don't know what to tell you.

Poster Yut claims to be a Marine on his 3rd tour in Irag. He still hasn't been paying attention. Tal Afar was a holding operation and this one may very well be as well.

If it makes you butt hurt because it doesn't gibe with want you want to hear, don't know what to tell you. Trying to work on facts, not speculation here. You may be right. I don't know. So far there are no signs of the Iraqi army in the operation. If they are not there, then you are probably right. If they are, then it is more likely this is another holding operation.

It was originally an army unit. Turned it over to 3/7, who turned it over to 1/7, who turned it over to another USMC unit, who just turned it over to another Marine unit. Tal Afar has become a holding action due to Iraqi Army units.

Just dawned on me, we are probably arguing about an operation that has already finished :)
