Without any legs, Bobby Martin plays football. At 3-feet, 112 pounds, Martin is a backup varsity noseguard and plays on the punt and kickoff coverage teams for Dayton's Colonel White High. Martin was born without legs but doesn’t wear prosthetics because he has no thighs to which to affix them.

It's halftime of a game in Dayton on Sept. 16 -- Colonel White High against Mount Healthy. After Colonel White leaves the locker room, the refs approach the coaches on the sideline. Crew chief Dennis Daly announces, "Number 99 cannot play in this game anymore. He's not wearing shoes, knee pads or thigh pads."

How obtuse can an official be?

How about the kid "wears" all that gear in a backpack? Then would the refs let him play?

An inspiring story, but for some reason I have this image in my head of this guy being given the ball and then both he and the ball being thrown to the wide receiver...

I know, I know, I'm bad.

Speaking of 3 feet tall people, here's a pic of 40-inch (OK, 3'4") actor Mikey Post...next to 2'10" Verne "Mini Me" Troyer. For once, Mikey's a giant :)

Suddenly, Doug Flutie--the "short" 5'9"* quarterback--
seems gigantic by comparison :)

*--my height. He's short comp. to most football players of
course!
