Sure it makes sense. GWBush poll numbers are down and the MSM is an arm of the Donks. Will spin anti Bush every time. If it wasn't Meijers it would be her clone. That's as good as it gets these days The Repubs own Congress and the White House and the Judicial Branch. If they can't flex some muscle under THESE circumstances, what happens if, God forbid, the Dems take over the House or Senate in 2006???? I have never seen the Dems so weak. Unfortunately, the Repubs don't seem able to muster a spine in the face of these guys. Is there something I'm not understanding here???

I am sadly in that group, I was hoping for better from GW. He had the perfect opportunity to shore up the base and do the right thing Picking a nominee isn't about shoring up the base
A nomination is about picking a person that will follow the Constitution
If a nominee follows the Constitution ... what is there to fear?

Some conservatives are pathologically incapable of being thrilled, to be fair.

So was Reagan. Wait for more information before you make up your mind. Yeah, but she was a Democrat when Reagan was in office. Heck, JFK was a tax-cutting anti-communist hawk. Back then the Democrats had some respectability. Democrats have become nothing more than terrorist-sympathizing American-hating baby-killing Communists.

Souter said under oath he would, he hasn't. I fear this will be another Souter.

I agree. No more stealth candidates!
Why does President Bush have to nominate a woman judge?
Is there a quota of women for SCOTUS? Is it 2 women? There are more women than men in the USA so maybe the quota should be 4 women.
Or maybe, just maybe, it should be the most qualified 7 judges in the USA regardless of the other factors.
Did Pres Bush nominate her to pay back a favor?
Did Pres Bush nominate her because Hitlery and her side of the aisle would be more likely vote for her?
It will look bad to withdraw her nomination but I hope that he does.
Sandra Day O'Connor does not have to be replaced by another left leaning woman. We deserve to have the best!

My concern is her firm --- Locke, Lidell, Sapp.
I have been underwhelmed by them in the past.
Had some company litigation with them (I was a third-party witness, no dog in the fight) and the lawyers were pretty dishonest (worse than typical lawyers).
They were very inconsiderate on a personal level.
Big firm, though, so it's hard to generalize. But birds of a feather.

The only remotely conservative source-aside from Hugh Hewitt-that's commented favorably upon this nomination is the ACLJ.

If he would have just shot the bullett, pulled a true conservative up, then the base once again would be charged and we could have weathered the ongoing storms. Like it is, it's like we must hide once again under the sheets until the boogie man goes away. Sucks.

And what do you base using the word "abomination" on? Do you know her other than what's come out in the past five minutes? Yesterday, I said Donald Sutherland was the biggest drama queen I've ever seen, but it looks like that title now goes to the MIERS SUCKS faction here on FR. My gosh.

This isn't what I helped campaign for, as a volunteer; and it's not what I supported, with numerous (and substantial) cash donations. Ditto that! Bush's approval ratings are about to nosedive. What an absolutely idiotic pick.

I am thinking that you are swimming up stream here!!! LOL
It is gonna be really hard to get some freepers to take time to check her out...especially when they are told that she WAS a democrat in the 80's....
and how much that might indicate her feelings toward being pro-choice...
I am still swimming with you and Bahbah, and Howlin...and a few others...so we need to make sure to point out links, articles, etc., that will have information on her. I know I will feel better myself if I can find an indication about how she feels on the pro-life issues...
