I know that she was recommended highly by Harry Reid.
What do you think about that?

If a nominee follows the Constitution ... what is there to fear?

Another Souter. Bush #1 said the same thing about him.

The Democrats were loony from FDR onwards. LBJ just solidifed the idiocy that FDR and Truman began, especially when it came to communism.

Reagan was a Democrat when FDR was implementing the New Deal.

Her contributions don't necessarily mean she was a democrat. The firm where she was a partner was likely just trying to curry favor with both parties.

she also gave to the Bush campaign, the Bush recount fund, Republican party, etc.

however, I do think she's a terrible pick.

I didn't work my butt off last Aug, Sept, and Oct for this crap.

I'd like to think that we worked our butts off to protect America and bring democracy to Iraq and Afghanistan. Unless you preferred what they had before, then you can happily vote Democrat next time.

Excellent thinking, Mo. Worth a repeat!

Picking a nominee isn't about shoring up the base

A nomination is about picking a person that will follow the Constitution

If a nominee follows the Constitution ... what is there to fear?

Blame it on the media. The Republicans are afraid of the liberal media and it's ability to brainwash

--->> Thus you have Meirs and be thankful for her. She's as good as us peasants will get right now

She also donated money to BILL CLINTON.

Souter said under oath he would, he hasn't. I fear this will be another Souter

Not everyone is a Souter

I'm not saying she shouldn't be looked into

I'm just saying .. give a chance before you dump the Doom and Gloom the world is over

Conservatives have a bad habit of doing this .. the media eats it up and then we end up having a bigger battle then before we started

Sure you are. NOT.

Please feel free to study my postings if you think I am anti Bush, I believe you will find otherwise. I extremely pro Bush, but this nomination thoroughly shakes my faith. If you want to dismiss me as some kind of troll go right ahead. Harry Reid recommended nominating her.

She gave money to BILL CLINTON to defeat GWHB, from her home state.

Sure it makes sense. GWBush poll numbers are down and the MSM is an arm of the Donks. Will spin anti Bush every time. If it wasn't Meijers it would be her clone. That's as good as it gets these days

What does W care about poll numbers? He can't run again.

The best thing about a second term is not having to worry about popularity. W should only be constrained by his conscience.

I'm tired of using the MSM as an excuse for not having the spine to stand up for convictions. Reagan had a leftist media as well, and he somehow managed to accomplish some conservative goals from time to time.

I have yet to come across any evidence she is a conservative or a strict constitutionalist. Sorry but just because GW thinks highly of her does not mean I should.

Reid suggested her name along with others ... THAT must be it! Reid dictates to POTUS. /sarcasm

Reid also said nice things about Roberts, then voted against him.

They were very inconsiderate on a personal level.

I don't know much about the firm she worked for

But my experience with law firms are that they usually try to win for their clients .. that is what they get paid to do

They don't get paid to be nice

It is gonna be really hard to get some freepers to take time to check her out...especially when they are told that she WAS a democrat in the 80's....

I'd say half the Freepers here were once Dems till Reagan come along

Heck .. there are a number who were Dems till 90's
