"So was Reagan. Wait for more information before you make up your mind."

Okay, so I probably disagree with you on the nomination issue, but your post reminded me of the best video I have ever downloaded off of the web. The video when Donaldson takes on Reagan about Reagan blaming the Democratic congress for the deficits. Donaldson asks, "Mr. President, does any of the blame rest with you?" and Reagan replies, "Yes because for many years I was a Democrat." The crowd of reporters erupt in laughter.

Another Souter. Bush #1 said the same thing about him.

Why do you automatically assume she is another Souter??

We don't know a whole lot about her yet

We'll never see another like Reagan. I forgot all about that moment; thank you for the reminder.

Regarding the nomination... all I'm saying is, wait for information on Miers before opposing her. We know nothing about her, and that will change.

Democrats have become nothing more than terrorist-sympathizing American-hating baby-killing Communists.

Worth repeating.

What do you mean, bringing in eyewitness personal experience in here like that? Real information, character testimony based on personal observation? You could ruin someone's morning!

LOL!

I'd like to think that we worked our butts off to protect America and bring democracy to Iraq and Afghanistan.

No, that's only part of what I voted for. In whole, I voted for conservative principles and philosophy. So far, I've only seen glimmers of this, and I certainly haven't seen it en mass.

Didn't Reagan used to be a Democrat? Maybe it's good to remember what the other side thinks.

Harriet Miers may eventually turn out to be the second coming of Scalia. Still this appointment is disappointing for one reason. The Dems and their media allies use the term "conservative" as a synonym for "outre" or "scary". An appointment of a known strict constructionist, even if confirmed in a bruising battle, would put an end to this nonsense. We are in charge. Let's act like it.

I'm not assuming it, I simply fear it. There were plenty of other potential (female) nominees that were far more qualified and had a record of conservative rulings.

"If a nominee follows the Constitution ... what is there to fear?"

It's easy to say you will follow the constitution but it is not easy to do. Thats why you need someone with a long and proven record of doing it. We have been deceived at least 4X by steath liberals. Now we have to hope for the best. This is unacceptable.

Reid is a pro-life Democrat. I know most people don't believe there could be such a thing, but there is a lot more to politics than abortion and there is a lot more to the pro-life movement than overturning Roe v Wade.

Bush is Pro-Choice and Anti-Abortion. That's just the way it is.

Oh yeah, that Scalia/ Thomas line? A lie.

and how much that might indicate her feelings toward being pro-choice...

How about her feelings toward being pro-Walter Mondale!

<urping noises>

I know I will feel better myself if I can find an indication about how she feels on the pro-life issues...

Have you been paying attention? The whole idea is, nobody knows how she feels on the pro-life issue! She's another Souter! She's supposed to be another Souter! That's the whole idea!

Jeez louise, pal, grab a cuppa coffee or something, it's nearly lunchtime.

And Harry Reid recommended her........

"But my experience with law firms are that they usually try to win for their clients .. that is what they get paid to do."

Well, this had nothing to do with winning or losing; it had to do with them being pricks.

Again, I was not a litigant or an employee of litigants.

I was the owner of adjacent property involved in a dispute and an engineer.

They subpoened thousands of pages of documents that had zero to do with anything --- then did not look at them.

They scheduled depositions --- and failed to tell us that they changed the date after we showed up.

They took all day for a deposition --- talking on cells phones and playing with their blackberries, instead of askign questions.

Etc.

They were not "winning." They were billing lots of money by the hour to their clients.

There is a difference.
