Politicians are not known for their courage. However, sucessful politicians are known for reading the prevailing winds. They will fight once they are convinced that their constituents want them to fight, and not before them.
In other words, we conservatives have a lot of work to do. We have to take back the culture and move the electorate rightward. That will not happen overnight.
