WASHINGTON President Bush will hold a press conference on Tuesday in the Rose Garden at 10:30 a.m. EDT.
The issue that most likely will dominate the event is Bush's Monday pick of White House counsel Harriet Miers (search) for Supreme Court justice. If confirmed, Miers would take the place of retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor (search).

Dobson's statement was not enthusiastic. It was guarded optimism.
It wasn't even that. It was hope. He repeated his caveat twice, "Now I may be wrong..."
It makes one wonder if this is the kind of enthusiasm that people like Dobson will bring to the next election. At best, Bush exercised very poor political judgment yesterday. It is more likely, in my mind that it was a deliberate twist of the knife over the Gonzales rejection.

I agree.... he's saying she won't change. He's saying she shares his philosophy etc.....
This whole presser is to convince us of that.

She appears to have a great deal of common sense, and the ability to not suffer fools lightly. These are qualities I like. After all is said and done all of this anxiety may be way overdone.

Ugh, Bush shut up. You're killing her chances of getting confirmed.
To: traderrob6
Have you ever discussed abortion with Miers?
Nicely avoided answering that question.

Heck, why not, worked out great with his judgement with Mel Martinez, Rafael Palmiero, Colin Powell, Paul O'Neil, Michael Brown, and my personal fave, Arlen Specter. Yes, W's shown great judgement with people, why not "Trust him"? My personal favorite was when he looked into Vladimir Putin's soul.....

Good point and agreed.
Here comes the A question. The "intangibles" are what count. Judicial philosophy is what counts he says.
I agree fully.
