A company car or car allowance is now a standard part of the compensation package for area public-school superintendents, a survey by The Washington Times shows, but in the District, the free ride also comes with a chauffeur. Superintendent Clifford B. Janey, 59, is taken to and from many school engagements by a support-services assistant who makes $28,711 to $36,939 a year, school officials said. The driver "serves as the main point of contact to ensure the superintendent's timely attendance to various functions," said Erika L. Pierson, deputy general counsel for D.C. public schools.

The people who do these kinds of things should have "Wasting Taxpayer Dollars" tattooed on their foreheads.

From
this 2002 link:
The finalists are:
Clifford B. Janey, who has been Director of Black Studies at Northeastern University, has been in several leadership positions with Boston Public Schools, including Community District Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer, and, most recently has served as Superintendent of Schools for the Rochester City School District in New York.
Janey's been around.

With the condition of DC Public schools, I cannot imagine how she has time to go anywhere other than to schools, the teacher's union headquarters, and court.

Cliffy used to be our s.o.s. her in Rochester, NY. I think he got nearly a half mil to leave. And do you remember the article in which he invited Marion Barry to teach high school chemistry?
To: Kenton
Wonder if his CV would stand up to some close scrutiny?

He probably has a presidential ROLEX as part of his gifts from the wait staff. Not to mention it is DC, so the driver is either his nephew, gay lover or his crack dealer.

Nice to know how the other half lives. We're pretty small time here in rural Illinois. The Superintendent at Yorkwood schools just let his friends gas up free at the school pump.
