Bush Helps Black Folk

Posted on 10/04/2005 3:29:12 PM PDT by metalmanx2j

Hi fellow Freepers,

I needed your help if you could lend it. I am writing an article on how President Bush (43) has actually helped black people more so than Clinton did. Does anyone know where I can get a good article or a fact sheet comparing the two? Or, any article explaining why Republicans are better for African Americans would be great. Thanks all!

Metal

This is an article about how the president spends more on the poor than Clinton. Since the poor often includes minorities, I thought it might be helpful.

Also, although I don't have a link, I do know that home ownership for African Americans is up considerably under this president.

I understand what you are looking for, but if Bush's policies help people, by definition they help black people.

Repubs are the party of color-blind citizenship, and will always be uncomfortable singling out any particular group by ethnicity, and rightly so.

If homeownership has increased among the working poor, and it has, then Bush's policies are helping the working poor of whatever ethnicity. If small business has increased, and it has, again the working poor have benefited whatever their ethnicity.

We are forever caught by this problem, to be able to answer our critics who maintain that we are race intolerant, we have to break our own rule and single people out by race.

But the fact is that if you are race-obsessed, if you define yourself and others by race, you are probably a Democrat. If you are uninterested in race, if you consider it to be of secondary importance, or perhaps of no importance whatever, if you judge a person by his character, and his political philosophy first and foremost, you are either already a Republican or you are headed our way. If you think color-blind citizenship is impossible, impractical, unlikely, undesireable, you are a Democrat.

Bush has made it okay to call black people americans and not black americans.

He has made it okay to say hi to a black person and not wutz up.

He has made it okay for black people to strive for good jobs and not take a back seat to anyone.

In short, he has treated black people the same as he treats white people. To him there is no black or white americans, just americans.

For me,his innate goodness comes through even when faced with the tough times he has endured throughout his presidency.

He spent more on AIDS treatment and prevention in Africa than any American President in History.
He tapped the first and second black Secretaries of State.....

I totally agree, but I just wanted to write a piece about how blacks have improved under Bush, cause it is the only way they seem to respond.
