Me too. Bill Dyer said that some of the top tier SMU grads were as good as bigger name schools.

Do I hang my head because my graduate degrees are from University of Cincinnati, or do I demonstrate how I got a lot out of a non-Ivy league school?

PS Undergrad was from Wells College, which also doesn't count as Ivy league, but it was a good school (although very liberal)

University of Wisconsin at Madison undergrad here. I got a quite sought after fellowship for study abroad on graduation and some jerk from NY (where else) said "You just don't expect to find brains out here."

This snobbery over Ive League schools makes me crazy.

I watched at a "Dartmouth" grad was fawned over at a company I used to work for. The guy couldn't tie his own shoelaces, but by golly, he had THAT degree, and that counted for something.

Whatta joke.

I graduated from an Ivy League school - and I never "used" it to get something that I didn't work for.

That said, ther are many fabulous intellectuals and creative minds who happen to go to "other" colleges - and we should not denigrate them because they didn't go to the "right" schools. Whatta joke. I have 2 nephews who graduated from Cornell, and while their parents broke the bank putting them through that school (twins), what did they do when they graduated? Couldn't figure out what to do with their "ecology" or whatever-the-heck-it-was degrees and became teachers. Yep. Both worked at getting a Masters in education and are today, teachers.

They could have gone to very good NY State schools for almost free, and gotten to the same place and with better preparation for being teachers. Sheesh!
