Why is it more important to have a knock down fight??
I thought it was important to have a Conservative on the bench
Not much is know about Meir as of yet .. but they are throwing her out the window before giving Miers a chance to be known
This interview of Ann's is insulting
"Not much is know about Meir as of yet .. but they are throwing her out the window before giving Miers a chance to be known"
Maybe because we are the vetrans of the "Give O'connor, Kennedy, Souter a chance" movement and damned tired of discovering we were saddled with "RINOS in Elephant's clothing"
Believe me, we would like to be wrong.
However our good "Hopes" are burned.
I clearly stated why. But, for your convience here it is again:
Peace follows war, not negotiations. We need to beat the crap out of them in order to bring a bit of peace to our political system. We can do just that right now, and we shouldn't be afriad of mixing it up. GWB looks afraid.
I thought it was important to have a Conservative on the bench
It is. and I will be pleased if this 'faith based' nominee is just that. I do have a lot of faith in GWB, but it's being strained.
That's the whole point.
There is no way to review, look at, assertain, consider, read, discover, or otherwise find out about Harriet Miers' views - other than to have someone guess and then claim to know.
With other Judicial candidates, you have past decisions and other writings with which to determine with near certainty what they believe.
I hear people say, "just wait for the hearings."
That is bunk. Hearings are all about vagueries and platitudes, with canned answers that reveal little or nothing.
I admire Harriet Miers. I like Harriet Miers. I am happy she found peace in being a born again Christian, as have I.
It's just that her temperament and her views on critical issues have not been challenged by her current duties.
Often people THINK they feel a certain way about issues, but then they change when confronted with the awsome power to make decisions affecting real people and real lives.
Why is it important? Because we're right, that's why.
Sometimes you just have to show the country what's going on. You can't be afraid to voice your arguments.
