A knife-wielding Palestinian youth tried to stab Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint today before being shot and wounded by troops.
The 13-year-old Palestinian ran toward the soldiers brandishing a knife and shouting “Allahu Akbar” or “God is greatest,” witnesses said.
The soldiers fired at the youth, lightly wounding him, the witnesses said.
The soldier was not wounded in the incident, the army said.

I am increasingly annoyed at journalists and others who translate "Allah Akbar" as "God is greatest" when the translation should be "Allah is greatest." Allah is a specific name of THEIR god and in no way has anything to do with the one true God of the Universe. Allah is not god, he's just the entity they have determined is god.

I understand completely that this kid was raised to hate everyone and everything associated with Israel. Even so maybe the soldier was aiming for a clean head shot, but God may have different plans for the youngster. I myself would not want to be in this soldier's place having to make decisions about whether a child lives or dies. A lot of people forget that it is not a fight of flesh and blood, but a fight with the powers and principalities of darkness.
Also Allah is not God or even closely related. Allah is the Muslims moon god, hence the crescent symbol of Islam.

I know they did, but I thought that was part of the code of the Israeli military, not to fire at children.
I have read that the star and crescent wasn't used until after the death of Muhammad, about the time of the Ottoman Empire. Is there any truth to this, or is this just another instance of secular sources screwing up the facts?
