Python eats gator, stomach ruptures
Nesnet5.com ^ | 10/5/2005 | AP

A python's eyes were apparently bigger than its stomach.

Scientists in Florida are puzzling over a Burmese python that scarfed down a six-foot alligator before its stomach ruptured.

They found the carcasses in an isolated part of Florida's Everglades National Park. Photos show the gator's hind legs and tail sticking out of the 13-foot snake's ruptured gut.

The Miami Herald reported that scientists can't figure out how the snake got the critter down. The snake's head is also missing.

Experts say the clash is interesting, but it also shows the exotic snakes are competing with gators to top the food chain in the Everglades.

Park biologist Skip Snow said he's documented 156 python captures in the last two years.

My screen name would be warthog using your criteria. My name does come from a fishing boat, though.

Nah, I'm in Illinois.

My Mother will be 85 next month and has slowed down a little, but I can remember visiting with her and at breakfast she would have, pork chops, ham, bacon & sausage on the table plus eggs, biscuits, gravy, American fries and she'd make you some pancakes to go with that if you wanted them, along with honey and home made jam, wash it all down with the best tasting coffee anywhere. I would stuff myself to the gills only to have her tell me that "You didn't eat very much"

I use the same brand of coffee (Folgers) that she does but it's never as good as hers.

nah, just a fan. I defer to a real fighter jock.

When W was at Ft Brag a few months ago, an F-15 flew at treetop level over our house. It was an amazing sight. Too bad he was going so fast LOL. I talked to a retire Col. and he explained that when AF-1 is travelling, it is constantly surround by fighters in three concentric rings. Very interesting. If anyone else has more info on this or clarify, I'd love to be better informed.

When I was in Richmond, VA, an F-16 took off infront of the 737 that I was in. It made a hell of a racket when it took off. Louder than a 747. I drool when I see our military driving their ships, planes and tanks.

My brother who was a chopper pilot in 'Nam in 1970-71, just shrugs it off.

I know. Typos are a bitch. Next time, I will try to remember the proper rule of thumb and type out the word of the number. Ten thumbs up. Or is that 110 thumbs up? LOL

Hahahaha, nice. At least you're a good sport about it. Besides, your penchant for our fighters is great. Ex-Air Force SSgt here. 8 years. Not a jet driver, but was around them constantly as a cop in the USAF. Seen an F-22 scream over your head yet? Amazing site. That said, nothing touches a P-51d Mustang from WWII for pure beauty.

Have only seen the F22 on the internet. Looks pretty nice, but I admire the lines of the Lawn Dart better. On the other side, I'd also like a ride in the A10. I knew a woman (don't remember her rank) who worked on the Wart. I hope the Goubbmint keeps the Wart around as they have the BUFFS.

alligators gots sharp claws. can cut their way out of most anything...

I heard of a "weiner dog" (I forget the name of the breed) which clawed his way out of an alligator's belly.

My son wants a Ball Python (he's 5). I haven't quite made up my mind about it yet.

How has it worked out for you?

In these type of instances it is okay to go for the head shot.

That said, nothing touches a P-51d Mustang from WWII for pure beauty.

Our VP Sales was a P51 pilot based in Europe during WWII. Shot down a lot of Germans Fokkers? (I think, I was a kid when he shared his war experience).

Then again, I'm not sure if he used that expression as opposed to the other F-word, due to my my being a youngster.

Do you have G & R, "I used to love her but I had to kill her"?

No, but I can sing you the first few bars of "If I'd shot you when I wanted to I'd be out by now"
