Fazal M. Cheema
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- The Pakistani roommate of a man authorities say died when he detonated an explosive device outside a crowded football stadium was led in handcuffs from a party shortly after Saturday's explosion, the head of an Islamic student group said.
Fazal M. Cheema, a finance major, shared a university-owned apartment with Joel Hinrichs III, 21, who died Saturday when a device attached to his body exploded as he sat on a bench outside George Lynn Cross Hall.
Cheema and three other Muslim students were led in handcuffs from a party by police after the blast, Ashraf Hussein, president of the Muslim Student Association, said Tuesday. They later were released...

Khalil has also been associated in Tulsa with Mujeeb Cheema, a Pakistani and organizer of a radical campus student group. There are several high level officials in the Pakistani Intelligence services close to Bin Laden and Sadam Hussein who have the same last name Cheema. It is not known if they are related but Pakistanis are believed to have been hired by Sadam Hussein to help McVeigh. Cheema was employed in Tulsa by a company owned in part by Terry Lenzner, a close friend and investigator for Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Cheema is a strong backer and promoter of a Tulsa mosque that could have aided two pilots who lived in Tulsa and were involved in the suicide attacks on the WTC. The Tulsa World reported on 9/18/2001 in the article Possible Spartan Link Investigated that one of the pilots in the WTC attack trained at the Spartan Flight school in Tulsa and another pilot used a Tulsa address as his residence on hi pilots license.

COAST COURT STRIKES DOWN KEY PART OF FEDERAL ARSENAL AGAINST TERROR
A federal appeals court yesterday struck down as unconstitutional parts of an anti-terrorism law that has been a key element of the government's legal arsenal in the war on terror.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that a 1996 criminal statute barring the provision of "training" and "personnel" to terrorist groups was too vague to be enforced, rejecting the Justice Department's efforts to offer definitions for the terms.
The court also made it harder for the government to win a conviction under the remaining parts of the law by declaring that the prosecutors have to prove that a defendant knew that the group was on an official list of terrorist organizations or of the illegal activities which led to that designation.
The case involved a Sikh activist, Harpal Cheema, and his wife. The government claims they have ties to the Khalistan Commando Force and the Sikh Student Federation Faction, organizations that have engaged in bombings, murders and kidnappings to wrest their homeland from Indian control. However, neither group has been formally designated by the State Department as a terrorist organization. Mr. Cheema was accused of connecting phone calls for members of the groups and of fundraising for them. He claims to have been repeatedly tortured by Indian authorities and that he and his wife would face the same fate if forced to return there.
Judge Noonan, who was appointed by President Reagan, and Judge Margaret McKeown, who was appointed by President Clinton, ordered the release of Mr. Cheema, who has been jailed for six years. The judges also ordered a Justice Department panel to reconsider the couple's applications for asylum.

>>Why is this not the subject of every newscast, 24 hours per day?<<
Because the leftists in the media will never validate Bush's War on Terror, even if it means all of us die in a jihadist bloodbath.
My raw hatred for the liberal media grows more and more each day.
He wasn't suicidal -- it was an accident or someone set off the bomb that blew him up. He had intended all along with others to do great harm to the people in the stadium and since I was one of them with my two kids, I am as mad as can be at the attempted coverup that was orchestrated by the OU President and who knows who else.
Nor the species.
didn't a fraternity brother say there was no way this guy had any terrorist inclinations?
Big thread already here about this and channel 9
Previous (long!) thread here:
If it wasn't for FR, I don't think many people would even be aware of what happened, but less any details. Makes you wonder.
"I guess Boren's crackdown on alcohol has paid of. The ultimate IRONY."
A lesson going forward might be that unpredictable changes in procedure can help screw up even painstakingly planned terrorist attacks?
That was the father who said that.
Good point! Hell could be an interesting place for him.
"didn't a fraternity brother say there was no way this guy had any terrorist inclinations?"
One down, four to go.
That's LAST NIGHT's videos.
There has been a terrorism link since the beginning but NO ONE would go on the record officially that was in the know. All been behind the scenes but the reporters from The Oklahoman, OU Daily, Channel 9, and Channel 4 have been everywhere on this story trying to get people to talk on the record. They have had the info but needed the sources to confirm.
This is an unbelievable situation. Who was I watching the other day...can't remember if it was the anchor for 6 (maybe Tammy Marler) or 8 here in Tulsa...she was actually at the game and she was quite shaken up! Led you to believe she would be following up on it throughout the news but then it was like it never happened!
the FReeper who posted this got zotted.
Associated Press (in 2002): Zacarias Moussaoui, the "20th hijacker" of 9/11, was connected to the Islamic Society of Norman.

BTTT cuz our media stinks.
That would be pretty futile now - the cat's out of the bag. And Channel 9 strikes me as a news outlet that takes the first amendment seriously.
dunno. everyone I talk to says "what? Never even heard there was a bomb much less any of this other stuff."
what is going on here? why was the Pak room mate released then?
I was hoping that this would have ended (coverups) once Clinton left office, but it hasn't.
That's what I want to know too!!!! I'm getting more than a bit ticked off about this. What the gosh darn heck is going on here? hmmmmm, grrrrrrr
I have to agree with you.
"Channel 9 is doing great work on this."
Thanks for starting the new thread and YES it BELONGS ON BREAKING NEWS. Wake up people!
Here is where those of us that have been praying for this since Saturday night can email our thanks to Channel 9!
Near halftime, they start really checking the bags/backpacks of everyone entering the stadium because of the no alcohol policy. They check them closer then they do at the beginning when we enter the stadium because in the past people have left the game to go get alcohol and bring it back to their friends. That's what got him IMHO!
Reason #2.... I guess it didn't work with me. I went to the gun store and bought 2 boxes of Federal Premium, 45 Auto, 230 Grain Hydra-Shok's.
I feel better now.....
You should trademark the name and
charge him everytime he uses it.
If she was HOT then that's ok.
Brand new FReeper swooshou first reported what was on the newscast. It was so important that posting a new thread was suggested as soon as the links went up on the Channel 9 webpage.
the "who else" list regarding the silencing of this - is very long. the forces stopping national media coverage of this, are significant and very powerful.
"If this guy "wasn't" a terrorist bomber, he certainly did a fine imitation of one."
Trying to enter a crowded football stadium with a backpack of explosives would qualify you as a terrorist bomber. The fact that you attend a mosque and have some Pakistani friends would also make me curious.
One thing of interest to all you freepers out there, and I would like to know if any of you know of a similar situation. It indirectly relates to this thread.
A couple of friends of mine were headed north on the connector in Atlanta in August. For those unfamiliar with Atl it was I75/85 going north near Turner Field.
Anyway they came up on a hearse, yes a hearse, with arabic writing on it. The arabic was then translated to "Allah is king, Mohamed will guide us". Two bearded arab men were driving. My friends passed them and the hearse went eastbound on I20.
I heard this after the fact. I was aghast and asked my friend if they called the FBI. She said no because there are cameras all over the highways. I told her she still should have called. I almost called myself, but considering it was two days later and I had no idea where they were, it seemed useless. I could only hope they were caught by the cameras. I shamed my friend for doing nothing.
Has anyone heard or seen anything similar in other parts of the country?
No kidding.... Where is the "FOX NEWS ALERT"
is this only more proof FoxNews is becoming apart of the liberal MSM??
Channel 9 was always my favorite when I lived in OKC. No fluff just good reporting.
I believe Channel 9 is independently owned and they are teamed with The Oklahoman and OU Daily.
Cover-up? Why does everything have to be some massive government conspiracy?
Maybe it's somewhat simpler than that. Maybe in the middle of the investigation they don't want to spew too much info that will foul ongoing leads, whatever they are. If I were the investigator I sure wouldn't want my daily status report published in the paper either.
Seems to me that would be a good reason to shout this story from the rooftops.
I wonder how you say "pretty mouth" in Arabic. I'm starting to see the disdain for pigs now.
Why is this not the subject of every newscast, 24 hours per day?
Put yourself in the authorities role. These jerks are trying to spread terror among the public in the US.
This was clearly such an attempt. To you give them a victory they did not get by hyping this up and like the terrorist spreading terror in the US? Or do you quietly try to go about stopping more such events?
I am not sure I know the answer. I know the incident on the Greyhound bus and the kid flying the small plane into the building in Tampa afer 911 were people sympathetic to al Qaeda. I think the government took the view, they were not members and lets not spread terror for the terrorist and change the American way of life.
What should be done this time? I bet had this worked al Qaeda would be claiming credit. Should the authorities do al Qaeda's job for them and scare the public out of going to college football games? Should they talk down the entire US economy and scare people out of living the American way of life like the terrorist want?
I would certainly favor handling this quietly if I knew the government was handling things like this rather than holding more diversity training session. But I think it is a tough call.
