*** Miers even followed Key when he led a splinter group of about 200 people away from their longtime congregational home after he was replaced as the church's leader by nationally prominent radio preacher Barry McCarty. This split in the Valley View Christian Church occurred only a few weeks prior to Miers' Supreme Court nomination.
During the five years prior to Miers' nomination to the Supreme Court (2000-2005), ... she remained an active churchgoer. In the Washington, D.C. area Miers has regularly attended a small number of different Episcopalian congregations. These include St. John's Episcopal Church (across the street from the White House, where Pres. Bush often attends services), Christ Episcopal Church (in Alexandria) and Falls Episcopal Church (a highly evangelical congregation near Alexandria which is in many ways similar to Valley View). Miers has also occasionally attended her family's church, the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in Dallas. Miers clearly feels an affinity for Episcopalian churches due to her childhood experiences and the continued Episcopalian affiliation of parents and family.

Despite her church attendance patterns while in Washington, there is no evidence that Miers currently refers to herself as an "Episcopalian."
One should keep in mind that despite Harriet Miers' approximately twenty-five years as a member of the Valley View Christian Church, she is no longer a member of that group. Miers chose to not remain under the religious leadership of Barry McCarty. In a strict taxonomic sense, Miers could currently be classified as a member of an as yet unnamed 200-person breakaway sect led by Ron Key, which (lacking a church building of its own) meets in a Doubletree Hotel in suburban Dallas. In a more theological sense, Miers is best classified as a conservative Evangelical or a "born-again Christian."***

Other reports say she has not moved her letter and their is only speculation she is moving to the start up church.The Pastor of Valley View has given his blessing to the new congregation.
Refering to it as a sect is pajoritive and inaccurate on the authors part.
I do not care if she is a committed Christian or not. I don't care about where she goes to church. It should neither qualify or disqualify her. I care about her judicial experience and philosophy. I don't like it.
If she had been a so-so lawyer she'd probably have been a judge a long time ago. Alot of a judge's duties is sorta like being an umpire.
Remember, Rhenquist had no judical experience before his appointment

Describing Falls Church as being near Alexandria is kind of funny. It's actually a good haul from "Old Town," although it is only a few miles from the sprawling western end of Alexandria, and many people from communities such as Bailey's Crossroads and Seven Corners like to say they are from Alexandria. But Falls Church is in the city of... Falls Church. The city is named for the church. The city is also famous for being the headquarters of the Judge Advocate General, or JAG, so it has its own TV show.
Even still, Falls Church directly abuts Arlington, which is much larger and more noteworthy than Alexandria. (Yes, Washington and his buddies liked to hang out in Alexandria, but Arlington is the military capital of the US, home to the Pentegon, Iwo Jima, Arlington National Cementary and the Lee House.)

If Harriet Miers had the background of William Hubbs Rehnquist there would be much less noise about her nomination.

I would not have you nominate a person for dog-catcher. I don't want some intellectual idiot, guided by ZERO on the inside, deciding great moral issues, that I and the rest of society have to live under. I, like the Founding Fathers, know the most important attribute for a position like this IS their character, and that is derived from their beliefs.
