WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The federal prosecutor investigating who leaked the identity of a CIA operative is expected to signal within days whether he intends to bring indictments in the case, legal sources close to the investigation said on Wednesday.

As a first step, prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald was expected to notify officials by letter if they have become targets, said the lawyers, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

Fitzgerald could announce plea agreements, bring indictments, or conclude that no crime was committed. By the end of this month he is expected to wrap up his nearly two-year-old investigation into who leaked CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if Plame and/or her husband were indicted! Seems to me the only plausible solution to a no-contest expose.

I'm skeptical. My undestanding is that the prosecuter gave Miller a pass - no questions about other sources of the leak, no questions re Wilson bragging all over the DC cocktail circuit that his wife was CIA.

Hilarious, indeed! If there are to be indictments, my money is on someone who operated behind the scenes and who hasn't been named by the press yet. Skullduggery of the Travis Co., TX, type.

As if the Prosecuters needed Millers testimony.
1.) Plame was outed by a traitor and not undercover.
2.) The only person to speak of her employment publicly was her husband.
3.) If the traitor was not considered as outing her since it was not "public" knowledge, then people not knowing could not have public knowledge.
4.) Which leads back to her husband as the only person who mentioned her occupation with any authority on the matter.

Conclusion: the quackers are the ducks and they are the Wilsons/Plames.

The following link makes it rather clear that Plame's work at the CIA and her "outing" are, legally speaking, irrelevant. So, the question then is, why all the hype?

We are all awaiting the prosecutor's answer and explanation for the 2 years and millions spent!

Thanks so much for the link to this thread, I would have missed it for sure.

I read Arianna Huffinton's post about Miller already signing a million dollar book deal, but Miller told the New York Times staff she hadn't signed a book deal and didn't know what her plans would be.

The truth is mighty elusive, isn't it?

Perhaps the White House was aware the Plame thing wasn't going their way and that influenced the Miers pick, i.e, they didn't want to fight two battles at once.

"Are you guys serious? Wilson/Plame outed themselves?"

Its common knowledge in DC [where I work]. Wilson enjoyed the attention from journalists on the society-cocktail circuit and bragged about his wife's CIA role to 1) show-off and appear important to his new "friends" and 2) to lend his bogus Nigeria report more credibility.

Do a search on Powerline. The MSM is obviously keeping you ignorant.
