The pastor at the Presbyterian USA church of which my wife and I are members has already started inserting the Father-Mother thing.

If your Pastor is using the Father-Mother term - RUN AWAY!

My hubby and I went to a wedding in a Methodist church last month and the minister talked and prayer to God our "parent". Ugh. For a wedding present, I bought them a NJKV Family Bible. :)

Have you tried a PCA (Presbyterian Church of America) or Orthdox Presbyterian church? You won't find any of that nonsense in either one of them.

What do you expect from a church named PC-USA?

Are you and the wife going to remain members of that Presbyterian USA church? If so, do you want that pastor to remain? By the way, is that pastor male or female? If the church doesn't want that pastor, can the church ask him/her to leave?

We've had discussions before, and I'll not repeat them here, but frankly, if you don't like the local PCA church, and don't want to drive, just about anything this side of the LDS or JWs is going to be better than what you have now. I have some of my most vigorous exchanges with Dispensationalists, but you'd be better off in a Bible Church than where you are now. In your metro area, you can even find two or 3 PCUSAs that are going to be far better than what you are doing now.

Brother, run, and don't look back. If your wife won't go, tell her you'll meet her for lunch.

And if you do want me to repeat myself on PCA options, let me know.

I didn't check to see what state you are in, but there is within the PCUSA what is known as the Confessing Church movement. Check out the link below, and maybe there is a member church near you....

The Confessing Church Movement

(I am a member of a Confessing Church within the extremely liberal Presbytery of the Hudson River. It's good to know that not every PCUSA church is a bunch of lib wackos!)
