The Other Gitmo: Where's the Outrage?
The Wall Street Journal | October 07, 2005 | MARY ANASTASIA O'GRADY

Posted on 10/07/2005 10:21:57 AM PDT by ExitPurgamentum

Conditions at the prison at Guantánamo are inhumane. Inmates are deprived their right to religious worship, receive scant nutrition and suffer constant verbal and physical abuse from guards. It's a humanitarian outrage.

I refer, of course, to Castro's Guantánamo Provincial Prison in Cuba proper, the prison across the fence from the U.S. naval base compound holding the terrorists. Fidel's lock-up makes the U.S. prison look like a five-star tropical resort.

Torture, deprivation and isolation of political prisoners at the "other" Guantánamo -- or at any of Fidel's gulags across the island -- are no secret. They've been loudly denounced by prisoners' families and reported by Cuba's independent journalists. But foreign journalists have paid little attention. It seems they're too busy shredding their hankies over whether enemy combatants at the naval base have enough honey glaze on their chicken.

The MSM likes Castro. They all jockey to position to be photographed with him.

Of course the Left never has a problem with foreign dictators. Cuba? Iran? Syria? North Korean? Saddam's Iraq? There was never anything worth protesting at any of those locations. No need to rally the freedom-loving Leftists.

But, if the US military is helping the Iraqi people freely elect leaders who will create a 21st century society ... well ... Cindy Sheehan will be on scene to help shut that effort down!

Socialists: Fighting against freedom; propping up dictators, and working for the destruction of Western Civilization for over 200 years.

So,in other words,in our Gitmo the inmates get to pray five times a day and in El Commandante's any inmate who chooses to pray had better not move his/her lips.

This is because the liberal left wants us to lose in Iraq. They will do or say anything that is against the United States. When we win, it will prove we were right all along, and they were wrong.

The liberal left does not want victory, they want defeat because it does not promote there plan...Wait they don't have a Plan!

The left believes they are above all others in this world and they want the U.S. to hold up to THEIR beliefs and anything that has to do with their idea of love and peace. That means no war, guns, poverty, marriage unless to each other. No anger, ambition, goals, old age. Just go their merry ole way and have no cares in the world and everybody should follow their example and if they don't the left will hold demonstrations in front of your house, will find an activist judge to help them sue you for not believing in what they believe and make your world miserable until you come around to their way of thinking or until every last one of them are deceased.

Wait they don't have a Plan!

Actually, they do. It's called 'Submission' (which, incidentally, is what the word 'Islam' actually means).

If their 'plan' succeeds, it will be ironically funny when the 'I am woman hear me roar' feminazi crowd is compelled by their new masters to wear burkas. It's a shame we all wouldn't be alive to enjoy the irony ... :^)

Agreed. Sounds just like the Communism that President Bush mentioned so many times in his speech yesterday. Can't tell you how glad I was to hear him drive that point home repeatedly. One could substitute "the left" for every iteration of "our new enemy" and "Islamic radicalism". The political leaders of the leftist movement (e.g., Boxer, Biden, Clinton, Kennedy, Lee, Pelosi) surely 'got it'; but unfortunately it probably went right over the heads of their gullible supporters.

Excerpts from President Bush's speech:

"Like the ideology of communism, Islamic radicalism is elitist, led by a self-appointed vanguard that presumes to speak for the Muslim masses. Bin Laden says his own role is to tell Muslims, quote, 'what is good for them and what is not.'"

"Like the ideology of communism, our new enemy teaches that innocent individuals can be sacrificed to serve a political vision."

"Like the ideology of communism, our new enemy pursues totalitarian aims. Its leaders pretend to be an aggrieved party, representing the powerless against imperial enemies. In truth they have endless ambitions of imperial domination, and they wish to make everyone powerless except themselves. Under their rule, they have banned books, and desecrated historical monuments, and brutalized women. They seek to end dissent in every form, and to control every aspect of life, and to rule the soul, itself."

"Like the ideology of communism, our new enemy is dismissive of free peoples, claiming that men and women who live in liberty are weak and decadent."

"And Islamic radicalism, like the ideology of communism, contains inherent contradictions that doom it to failure. By fearing freedom -- by distrusting human creativity, and punishing change, and limiting the contributions of half the population -- this ideology undermines the very qualities that make human progress possible, and human societies successful."

This is simply the continuation of the 10,000 year battle of Civilization against murderous chaos. Nukes and modern technology make the old solution, big walls, obsolete. Now, we got to go find them in order to protect our homes.
