Stevens could spare us the $500,000 salmon paintings, or pay for it himself, though. Hey, nobody's perfect, right?

We have two senators from Kansas I expected to vote against this bill, Brownback and Roberts. Apparently the marine in Roberts shown through, but I am disappointed in Brownback, and he is running for POTUS.

Bush should veto it and send a message to our enemies. A veto of this would bump him up in the polls for sure.

These results only underscore what Thomas Sowell said in his article today...the Republican senate is weak, not the President. I'm pleased to see both of my senators on the good guys list...lol!!!

Perhaps I am need of another good stomping by the LAPD, but I don't have a problem with this. What went on at abu ghraib was a dsgrace, and there is nothing wrong with codifying that.

It still sends a message to the terrorists, that we don't have the will to get as tough as necessary.

In regards to the US Senate, they probably are getting the right message.

The Real Abuse at Guantanamo

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1498575/posts

"Many of the orange jumpsuit-clad detainees fight their captors at every opportunity. They attack guards whenever the soldiers enter their cells, trying to reach up under protective face masks to gouge eyes and tear mouths. They make weapons and try to stab the guards or grab and break limbs as the guards pass them food. These terrorist prisoners openly brag of their desire to kill Americans. One has promised that if he is released he would find MPs in their homes through the Internet, break into their houses at night and 'cut the throats of them and their families like sheep.' These recalcitrant detainees are known euphemistically as being "non-compliant."

Yet these thugs are treated with an amazing degree of compassion: They are given ice cream treats and recreational time. They live in clean facilities, and receive a full Muslim religious package of Koran, prayer rug, beads, and prayer oils. An arrow in every cell points to Mecca. The call to prayer is played five times daily. They are not abused, hanged, tortured, beheaded, raped, mutilated or in any way treated the way that they once treated their own captives or now treat their guards. "

Thanks for posting the pictures, maybe they will at least enlighten those who are not stupid, but just unable to read the written word with comprehension.

The Senate has chosen a side in this war on terror and it sure as hell isn't our side.

You know what they say about a picture is worth a thousand words, it's true.

It's amazing, that people can be so concerned about the well being of terrorists, when in fact some interrogation may save the lives of thousands of innocent people.

I guess some people feel, that "rather thousands of innocents should die, than one terrorists be made uncomfortable".

The worst part is that among those people willing to sacrifice a zillion innocent people rather than make one terrorist uncomfortable, are 90 United States Senators, with the power and apparently the will to make it happen.

The hell of it is, that what our troops are sent to prison for doing to the terrorist prisoners, is no more than what those terrorist prisoners did to one another for R and R on their break from sawing off heads cutting off apendages and punching out the eyes of their own prisoners.

Such sanctimoneous buffonery as these Senators are pulling, puts our troops at a terrible disadvantage when dealing with those totally conscienceless, cold blooded, zealotry driven sub human monsters.

Anyone not in favor of a drive to recall all ninty of those Senators???

Of course the senate is week... look at those two women from Maine who seem pained when they vote with the GOP. Aren't those two women pro-abortion too?

You have two of my favorite senators. The new guy, Tom Coburn, is absolutely wonderful in every way. Love that guy.

WTF is up with these morons in the Senate and "degrading treatment." Which is more "degrading?" Someone putting a pair of Victoria's Secret panties on your head or being the star of an internet video clip showing your head being removed from your shoulders by a raghead murderer? These pompous asses, including McCain and Kyl (my "senators") need to wake up and face reality. These animals that they are so worried about WANT TO KILL US! Come on Senator! This stuff isn't rocket science. Stay out of the war business and let the adults do it.

Having a pair of Victoria's secret panties pulled over your head after a long time in captivity, sounds like more of a treat than a treatment, especillly if they had been recently by one of Victoria's Secret models.

I am not responsible for typing that. This keyboard just all of a sudden started working like a self playing piano.

I'm a liar! I'm a liar! I didn't type that either, I'm getting a new keyboard pronto.

In a post nuke attack, or "9/11 repeat" US, this squeamishness could end up looking a bit silly and terribly naive to say the least.
